Years ago at the Camp Pendleton San Diego field two guys had slingshots and as I remember were pretty good.. It was a local MCB event/ meetup...They used balls off the ground....

I'm gonna keep practicing, Chuck. I asked Slim for permission so we'll see

You really have to over draw it and aim instinctively. It takes a lil practice. Also pinch in front of the ball not on it. If you squeeze the paintball you won’t get the draw strength you need for effective distance and paint to break. I will bring my wrist rocket to Slims maybe we can play some sling shot games.

I was playing at a big game (800+ players) and was fighting some guys, however a guy kept popping up on my flank and snapping at me. He was ineffective enough that I stayed exposed while fighting the other guys. After a minute or so he hit me in the nuts and I had to go touch up at the respawn. Went right back to the same spot at the vanguard. Same thing, Ineffective fire, ignored him, fought the other guys. he tagged me again. But this time when he came up to snap I realized he was USING A SLING SHOT. Ran back, touched up, came back to where the guys were all massed (that wouldnt fight at the front) unscrewed my barrel, everyone is looking at e wondering what I am doing, dead sprint at the building he is in: he snaps and misses, I jumped THROUGH THE WINDOW and barrel tagged him. We hugged and laughed and I ran back for my gun.

A slingshot will never be competitive or enjoyable to use for multiple games a day, but you'll remember that one elimination for a very long time. Good luck on your quest of wrist rocket proficiency!

Update: I bought a $26 slingshot at Cabela's up in ME visiting family. Tested it a little in the backyard with a paper plate on a tree target. While it is doable and the paintballs break. Couple of caveats: 1.any slight offset will send the ball hooking. This includes grip, finger placement on the strap, shaking, and release. 2 it's more exhausting than pulling a trigger and the rest digs into your forearm after a while. Even with the foam pad but it definitely still helps. 3. Similar to archery you need your form perfectly repeatable. If you're form isn't consistent your aim will be off.

I'm definitely gonna practice in the backyard after work and try to improve my skills. Hopefully break it out at Slim's Stocktoberfest if he'll allow it πŸ™
