    RIP Charlie Kirk

Yes, he was very political. Also articulate and educated, able to debate anything from politics to religion.
Charlie Kirk assassinated in Utah; shooter remains at large

The man was hugely popular and admired by many for his sharp wit and pragmatism, myself among them.

He very publicly promoted conspiracy theories and has a long record of racist, sexist, and hateful comments. Nothing admirable about that.

Your description could describe a fair number of public figures. At least the guy was a patriot, and knew where he stood.

No matter much you may dislike, or even hate someone, celebrating their death is disgusting

          True true.

Can this thread get closed before we find reasons to dislike each other in our tiny niche paintball digital realm? Rationalizations for assassination of anyone in front their family from any end of the ideological spectrum is beyond gross. Folks need spiritual squeegeeing regardless of what team they're on...

The last time I celebrated a death was OBL. There's space for vengeance among combatants.

Beyond that, 100%. Death is a tragic reality.

I'll preface by saying 6 hours ago I didn't know or give a flip who Charlie Kirk was.

The man was murdered speaking his mind at an event his wife and children were present. I've had my political leanings one way and the other but no version of myself could accept this as a victory or something to celebrate.

I usually like to consider what some kind of gun reform would look like after a tragedy like this but Mr. Kirk as a victim of gun violence made peace with that notion some time ago. I really feel for his loved ones.

Before this gets closed, I'd like to say that hate itself doesn't discriminate. We should all try to remember that we're all humans, and here for a short time. This isn't a call to arms kind of moment, this should be showing us to all get along.

Its really hard to not be political when talking about a political activist. But that's why we all need to start tolerating one another again

Man.. I feel like as a society we are teetering on the brink… and I’m not waxing poetic, people are getting more aggressive and violent and further and further intolerant of other believes/ideals…

I genuinely don’t know what exactly he stood for but I applauded him to keeping an open dialogue and letting anyone step up to the microphone and challenge his and their own ideas…

I do feel like we're in a very, very dangerous spot. It's not just one side---there has been a massive amount of political violence over the last 6 or so years. There is this with Charlie Kirk. Two Trump assassination attempts. The assassination on the MN state representatives and attempted of more. The attempted kidnapping of Nancy Pelosi and attempted murder of her husband. The plotting to kidnap the Gov of Michigan. Jan 6th. The shooting in DC of a member of Congress at a softball game. That's not even a full list and it's on both sides. It's scary and it doesn't seem like any one incident, no matter how bad it has been, has made people think 'Enough...this has to stop.' and the tribalism continues.

Also, he was so obviously bankrolled by AIPAC and other Zionist organizations. He would come out and say things like “No! Gazans arent being starved!” Such an obvious sock poppet it’s comical. What isn’t comical though is that he did have a large following among evangelical zionist Christians.

Didn't follow the guy but my guess is he is referring to DEI hiring practices among U.S. airlines. Which is pretty scary - if im trapped in a metal tube flying 35,000 feet in the air I want the most qualified person flying that bird. Doesn't matter to me where they hail from as long as they have top marks.

He said the Civil Rights Movement was a mistake. No context in which that isn't racist.

NO man deserves to be shot for having an opinion, I wasn't a huge fan, and i notice that the quips you use are all out of context with no reference. maybe listen to the entire thing and see if you disagree.

It's funny because he advocated for the death of people who didn't think like him ... The world is a safer place without him

I don't know much about the boy myself - I say boy as I'll be 50 soon and I read he was 31 - but no one deserves to be shot for their thoughts.

It seems parts of society are unable to distinguish between a disagreement and a threat.

If a foreign leader publicly aims to indiscriminately kill Americans, and has the means to do so, and had attempted to do so, threat. Respond accordingly.

If a young man wins a debate on a controversial topic? Yeah, that's just a disagreement.

If anyone thinks responding to a disagreement with actual violence is ok, seek help. If anyone thinks it's OK to kill someone you saw on Twitter because you disagree with them, they're the worst sort of human, an actual threat, and need to be locked up for a very, very long time, at least.

I've never heard anyone who personally met Kirk say anything negative about him, as a person. What a tragedy that a subset of our nation is cheering violence in response to speech.

This one will be an inflection point for the nation.
