    NASCAR 2022: Next-Gen MegaThread

I imagine there are some other NASCAR fans on here. With Daytona happening this weekend, this seems like a great time to talk about all the changes this year, who's hyped for what race, and any post-race discussion.

Personally, I am very excited about the next-gen cars, and I'm particularly excited to see how they do on road-courses. It was interesting to see the Fords packing up at the front during the 60 lap Duels. I'm very interested to see how they hold up for 200.

So, what race are you most looking forward to? Who's your early pick for the championship?

For me, Sonoma is going to be exciting, and I am hopeful for Kyle Busch. You put a polarizing figure in a Toyota and I'm all over it.

I don’t really follow NASCAR. Only ever been to Dover because it’s the nearest track to me. I have been casually reading about the updates on this new generation of cars. I’m really surprised at how the chassis and other components are being handled by one builder. Does this put a lot of chassis shops, and employees on teams out of a job?

That's an interesting point. Surely it has to have some effect.

I know right now there are concerns about having enough cars due to the supply chain issues. A lot of guys were taking it easy at LA Coliseum and during the 'speed week' portions of Daytona.

I have Larson, A. Dillon, and Buescher on my year-long fantasy team (picks positions 1, 16, 21) so I will be pulling for them.

Man Larson seems like the Lewis Hamilton of NASCAR now. Unstoppable.

I forgot about Austin Cindric as well, he was crushing it in Xfinity, so I'm excited to see him full time in the Cup series.

I could have picked up Cindric but did not... So I hope he has a healthy but unimpressive rookie year, lol

    Kinda gapped on this thread.

Bristol Dirt this weekend. I am hopeful it's not such a muddy mess this year, but we'll see.

I enjoy the dirt race, but I think this should be an exhibition race or something instead of counting for points.

Bristol is only about 20 minutes from me, but I’ve never been to anything there, so I can’t contribute to the NASCAR fanfare. It is supposed to be raining on Saturday and Sunday though, so I would definitely say expect mud.

I think dust clouds are inevitable. You're either going to have loose dirt in the air a bit, or dampened dirt that'll inevitably clump. I'm not entirely sure what people were expecting last year. Nobody complains about it in the truck races.

I agree with Joey Logano that they should remove the windshields, which is pretty standard in dirt racing.

Completely agree. I have no idea if they're planning to do that or not this year.

I did enjoy Bristol last year though. That was fun to watch. I'm looking forward to Saturday's race.

I always forget about this thread.

Post race DQ for both JGR cars, making Chase Elliot the winner.

I can only assume that both Kyle and Denny are BENT.

I personally love seeing a Toyota on the podium, so that is a bummer. I also think both drivers put on a clinic yesterday, so it's sad to see it come down to this.

I hope they will release what the actual violation is, because the summary on twitter is about as vague as it could possibly be.
