I want to read some spooky stories.

I was listening to an old Art Bell Coast to Coast AM broadcast from 1995 that was dealing with a UFO sighting very close to my home county in Ohio, and it put me in a mood.

Do any MCBers have any good ghost stories? Ever seen a fairy, or a UFO? Meet Jesus while on a hospital bed? I want to hear a story that questions reality as I know it. It's been a while since I've heard a good one.

Saw what I can only describe as a ghost because there really isn't any other explanation as of yet.

Shared a small house with a buddy. I was standing up talking to a couple people who were sitting and I was facing the hall where a bedroom and bathroom were. I see this figure dart across as if someone ran out of the bathroom. Didn't say anything, figured eyes playing tricks on me. A while later another friend comes over. He stops talking mid sentence and says "I just saw a guy or something run by!". My stomach dropped.

That's awesome! Did anyone die in the house that you know of, or anything like that?

    Edit: Lazerviking beat me. Lol

I guess I can start. Around 2000 or 2001, a dearly beloved cat of mine was determined to have an inoperable cancer. We as a family decided to lay her to rest, before the disease could completely destroy her. She was a fantastic cat. Totally lovable, and my best friend. I believe I was 12 when we put her down.

Now, I lived near some train tracks, and I would often sleep facing my bedroom window, and I'd keep the window cracked so that I could hear the trains coming by. I loved it. I still love it.

My cat would find herself fascinated by the moonlight of the window and sit and stare out while I slept. And when I would wakeup, she would be nuzzled under my blanket up by my armpit.

Well, after we put her down, I was devastated. Heartbroken. I loved that damned cat. A few days after, I awoke to a pitter-patter on my bed. I opened my eyes and saw my cat, sitting as she did, staring out the window. I called her name "NIKKA!" And she looked at me, meowed, and ran off into the hall and down the stairs.

I slapped myself to make sure I was awake. I got up, got a drink of water, and used the restroom. The rest of the night I laid awake, thinking about what just happened.

I saw my dead cat. It was the last time I was ever able to share that moment with her. It was real, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

That's really cool. I had to make the decision to put my dog down and would often hope for experiences like that. I had dreams once in a while. Losing a pet is the worst.

It really is. Especially because I was so young. I had known the cat my whole life at that point. It was a nice little goodbye.

Back in highschool I was the sound tech for the choir program. Attached to our school was a performing arts center (PAC) that was mainly built by the city. Because of this it was fairly nice, had about 1500 seat capacity and even an upper balcony. There were even some cat walks well above the seating (about 70 feet up) there was always a story that a girl a long time ago had fallen from the catwalk and died (the PAC was about 40 years old) and her ghost roamed the building always trying to finish her backstage work. I never really paid it much credit

    Until.....

Choir was setting up and practicing for a performance later that week. Me and one of the PAC's sounds techs were at my sound board in the back of the lower level. Everything is going smooth and then all of a sudden, the sound shifts. On stage everything is fine, choir singing and the on stage speakers don't seem to be effected but the speakers facing the audience sound off. Less sound, only coming from one side. So we start looking over my board, nothing, go backstage, nothing. Finally we go up to the balcony to check on the amps for the main speakers. The left one is turned all the way down, not off, just down. We go down to backstage again PAC tech talks to the other workers and asks who was upstairs. There's only a few of them and they ask say nobody has been up there since yesterday.

I also had more equipment malfunctions and breaks in the PAC than everywhere else we went combined.

So ...... Take it as you will I guess

I don't believe in the paranormal yet for what it's worth here's my story:

My dad's a retired barber and about 20 years ago whilst retired he would visit old folks' homes and cut their hair. He would do this with his wife (she's a retired barber too) and typically one of them would get to escort the resident from his/her room to the room where haircuts were being given and back. One day my dad was ill so I took the day off to assist my step-mother, mainly to escort residents. She asked me to go pick the next client for her haircut.

The client in question was a lady in her 80's and she had a very large room all by herself. The room was very well decorated and kept, and you could tell right away she came from a well-heeled family. She spoke an impeccable, "International" French (this is taking place in a Montreal suburb) reinforcing the whole upper-class vibe I got. We were chit-chatting and I noticed a bunch of framed, black and white pictures on her drawer and it was something out of a movie: there she was, youthful and gorgeous, along with her dashing husband, in front of world-renowned scenic landmarks: the Pyramids, The Taj Mahal, the Kremlin, etc. I asked her about that and she told me that her husband was a Canadian diplomat. I remember also when I told her I was the son of that Italian barber, she said her husband was posted once in Rome and she loved being there.

She might have been of an advanced age but her memory and other mental skills were still all there, which I'll admit was alas not the case with most residents I escorted. It was refreshing to be able to carry out a nice conversation with an interesting person, and I got the feeling that she appreciated talking to someone who possessed a similar degree of education.

So, I proceeded to escort out fo her room and into the hallway, and we were still having a "normal" conversation. On the hallway walls, small lighting units were affixed at an interval of about 4 feet. Smack in the middle of the conversation, the expression on her face changed, as well as her gaze. It was as if she was looking past the end of the corridor. And then she said something totally off-topic, and weird - something like "you know young man, one has to make peace with God" (or it could have been 'Jesus', or something along those lines). I remember telling myself "what the hell was that?!?"... but as soon as she finished her sentence, all the hallway lights gave out one by one going towards us. I remember telling myself then "ok... that's weird, but there has to be a explanation for this".

Afterwards, I went to see the head nurse and reported that I thought I had witnessed an electrical failure on that floor. We went and saw the resident mechanic/electrician and he investigated the incident, yet could not find anything wrong with the lighting units.

A few days later, I talked to my step-mom over the phone and she goes "Jay, you remember that lady who was married to that diplomat? Unfortunately she passed away."

Thanks, but for the record I'm still betting that it was some sort of electrical failure and the rest was coincidence. It's just that it's the hell of a coincidence.
