I'll may post a few more when I resize them down a little to make the forum software happy.

Any tips on overly back-lit scenes? The belly dancer was in a shaded stage with bright outside behind her. I tried brightening her up a bit, but it really messes with the background.

How's your photoshop? You could select just her and brighten. Also, take the picture into adobe light room. I believe that is free on phones.

Got a copy of Gimp I fiddle with from time to time. Probably just need to practice with it more. I get frustrated when trying to select just what I want. Maybe I'm just too picky and stress out over every incorrect pixel. Hoping for something a bit automated, since in this case I have a dozen images that all need the same type of fix, but that and free/cheap probably isn't going to happen.

And for everyone with a cheaper Canon DSLR, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM Lens is very quickly becoming one of my favorites. Way better than the kit zoom lens.

Try the free version of light room. Not sure if it's free on pc, but it is on Android and ios. Photoshop has some slick new features that can pull the subject with one click and then you can manipulate the background easy. I haven't used gimp in about a decade, so I have no idea where it's at.

Lightroom ends up as $9.99 a month after the free trial. Ugh, I hate software as service!

Ok, I did some experimentation with Gimp, watched a tutorial or two, here's what I got so far. Not particularly automated (yet), but pretty forgiving.

First, original image, resized to make the forum happy...



Next, what you get just messing with the slider on the included windows editors...



Finally, using fancier color editors on Gimp and using a selective color mask on layers...


My masking skills do need some work, but at normal viewing resolutions it's not too bad.

Not sure who exactly the jousters were, or if they were part of a particular troupe or something. They work for the Festival as far as I know.



Can't have too many of these. This particular dancer was just fantastic about making eye contact with the camera.

Plus I got a thing for blondes.

And finally me and my friends. I'm on the right.

Drives me nuts any time I have to hand off the camera to someone else. They NEVER aim it right and miss-focus it 9 times out of 10. Of course I miss-focus it 6 times out of 10, so I really shouldn't complain.
