    "modern" DDR options?

Dance Dance Revolution came to America when I was in early high school and I used to play the ever loving shit out of it. Recently I've been wanting to pick up an older console and some dance pads, I was planning on trying to find a ps2 and some foam pads on eBay or something. Does anyone know if there is a newer option for the game? Additionally I have concerns that there will be a significant delay with using old cables on an HDTV, is there any way around that? I've got half a mind to try and find an old ass TV to go along with it.

    Thoughts?

The input lag won't be from your old cables but will be from the shit response time of most LCD's vs the CRT you would have played with in the past.

Get a free CRT from craigslist if you have the space. You can get really nice ones still, and saving them from the trash is a huge service they will be worth megabucks once there are none left.

You can get adapters for your PC to plug in literally any controller you can imagine.

Get Stepmania for your PC: https://www.stepmania.com/

It's basically an DDR clone/emulator. You can find song packs from the arcade machines on the high seas easily.

For the pad, D-Force makes a pretty nice pad that's wired for USB, just plug it in and you're good to go: https://dancepadmania.com/product-category/dance_pads/

It will run on a toaster as long as you run the default non flashy theme haha.

I remember my bro played on a soft pad and went to the arcade expecting to shred some fools and felt like a major bone head when he was soft pressing all the steps versus arcade style maximum force pounding them (as required to register the steps) good times.

This was my experience as well! Had the soft PS2 pads, then when I moved away for college went to the arcade down the street and learned that I was NOT ready

I was just thinking about this earlier today. It was such easy exercise, and I had a blast playing the game. I'll look into Stepmania and the pad as mentioned above.
