I've been playing a lot more titanfall 2 recently, it's a lot of fun for a 9 year old game that regularly goes on sale for $5. Servers are still online and usually have about 1000 players online at any given moment

I very fondly rememeber those days. LAN parties with consoles (xbox and xbox 360) were so much fun because you could get a couple people per console if you wanted to. I reminisce about it often when talking about gaming. A computer LAN was fun also, but randomly calling everyone you could so you could fill up all the consoles if you had extra spots made for such chaos. halo 1, 2, & 3, cod 3 were our favorites.

the days of Surge, Bawls, and Mt Dew fueled battles... Unreal Tournament(s), StarCraft, Duke Nukem, ... DOOM... Age of Empires... so many good times. Feels weird typing the full names out haha. As much of a headache as it was to get to a LAN party, I wish I'd been able to do it more. While we're on the topic, I feel like FPS movement quietly peaked with a mod called The Specialists for Half-life. The only thing that has come close to that movement was Titanfall. Sizable learning curve with it, but it was so much fun after you got the hang of it

I may have cut my teeth on Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, but Half-Life was my first love. Gosh that game is amazing. The moding scene was huge and the moding tools were easy to use. So fun.

Just starting Ghosts of Yōtei, Japanese English subs only. I love the first game and Kurosawa movies so I highly recommend to anybody that likes Samurai movies or Westerns ie Red DeadLast edited by cheapguitarscheapthrills; 01-19-2026, 09:59 AM.

I bought a few PSVR games digitally a few days ago when they were on sale. The only one I’ve played so far is Time Carnage. It’s no stellar AAA game but i have to say I’ve been having fun with it. Basically a wave shooter where you’re stuck in place with your weapons to the left & right of you. Graphically, it’s PS2 quality at best. As a flat screen game it would be pretty terrible but that level of immersion that VR adds makes it a fun little time killer. Well worth the $5.00 i paid but i wouldn’t spend much more than that.
A game to stay FAR away from is Eradicator Genesis. I took a chance because it was dirt cheap & even an average run & gun can be fun. It is truly awful though.

I just booted up my ancient NES and played Astyanax beginning to end. Weird little game, but it was one of like 3 I owned as a wee lad so I'm filled with creamy nostalgia right now.💀 PK x Ragnastock 💀

I never played that as a kid & when i discovered it as an adult i just couldn’t get into it. The collision detection just feels a bit off. That plus projectiles that sometimes knock you backward & other times knock you forward turned me off of it pretty quick. Maybe i should give it another shot.

homerj yeah it's janky as all get-out and honestly it was rough playing it at first. I don't think I would have the same love for it if it wasn't the third game I had (after SMB/Duck Hunt, SMB2 and SMB3). The music still hits and I enjoyed the playthrough, but compared to more polished titles it's really wonky to play. It was also my introduction to anime-style graphics with the cutscenes. I distinctly remember thinking "What's wrong with their eyes" as a 6 year old.

I picked up a 7800+ a while back for a really good price because the store had mislabeled it. Really cool little system. Nice to see Atari making a bit of a resurgence. I’d love to see them do a Jaguar or Lynx mini but i don’t know how much of a market there would be for those consoles. Then again, there is a Vectrex mini on the way.

Anyone play No Man’s Sky?
Is it any good? Im thinking about getting it but I’m curious if it’s one of those Rust type games that has such a steep learning curve that it’s so overwhelmingly complicated.

It is really fun if you enjoy exploration, not really having your hand held, survival/building games. Story is sparse but supported by lots of lore randomly placed around which makes since with the story once you complete it. I have over a hundred hours in it, not sure exactly how many but well over 100. BTW, the start can be easy or brutal. Your first character spawn will highlight the survival aspect but it will not stay that way. They keep releasing updates, major content patches, and expeditions (standalone challenges/stories) for free. In it's current state, i would rate it a 8.5 out of 10. But it keeps getting better.

Sounds fun I just played through Red Dead Redemption II looking to change it up. Might give it a shot next.

Tried playing The Walking Dead Onslaught earlier. With smooth turning & locomotion on, made me sick as a dog after a few minutes. I’ll go back & try click turning after my stomach settles down.
Also, bought a Retron GX the other day. I know the pre-release reviews were not great but supposedly they fixed most of the issues before launch. I only paid $65.00 for it so i figured it was worth the risk. I have the mini but I’ve never owned a TG16 before. Looking forward to popping in my very first TG16 game when it’s delivered tomorrow.

As usual, back to Helldivers 2. New warbond dropped, so the grind begins anew to get it. I usually find enough super credits over the course of playing between warbond drops, but the last one just dropped 2 weeks ago so i'm only halfway to repleneshing the bank. I've purchased SC with real money before, but i don't feel the urgency to do that anymore.
Also working on building an ewok-style base in Conan Exiles. Base-building is probably my fave thing to do in survival games.

Siress They brought back killzone gear in a legendary warbond, released a stealth warbond (patched stealth mechanics as well) with stealth-specific missions, then released a warbond that is the opposite of stealth (there's a sledgehammer that is explosive & does AT damage, & a belt-fed grenade launcher).
The current story elevates the war against bots. Current MO has us pushing toward cyberstan. Mission modifiers include Oops All Devastators & now Oops All Hulks. Official discord is bot-themed and they made (and/or promoted) a bot version of the game's opening animation: https://youtu.be/cBlr2ACxsAs?si=LyxOakRJLsvo6JUO
Oh, and we have a tank now.

I finished Metroid Prime 2 a couple weeks ago (which was hell, it's not a good game), and started up Custom Robo. I played it on Gamecube back in the day, and it was remember it fondly. So I'm replaying it with my wife and it's been a good time. It's fun and unique, and has a healthy dose of that early 2000s edge/cringe.

Finished Killing Floor Incursion last night. I’m going to try TWD Onslaught again with quick turning & teleportation on. That’s how o played Killing Floor & didn’t have any issues. If TWD still makes me nauseous I’m going to play Blood & Truth. I don’t know why I’m on such a VR kick but it’s all I’ve wanted to play lately.

. Added the SP1ETH to my modded Gamecube. This is a hardware replacement for the rare "broadband adapter" and now enables online play.
