I wouldn’t mind a older Cayman S or a 718. But I don’t need another sports car. If I got another I would want something collectible that’s going to hold its value not just follow inflation up.

Had a an early Boxter S for a short period of time that I flipped for profit and I really liked how it drove. I think a coupe in that trim would be that much nicer to drive. It was very nimble and fun to drive. I was never a convertible type guy and the coupe looks better IMO.

I had an 83 I bought for $300 about 8 years ago. Thing handled like it was on rails. Was so much fun. Wish I kept it.

Reading this thread it’s obvious some people don’t understand the 944 and how it’s not a typical Porsche…

As a race car: yes. It’s not my first choice but it would make a great club racer, time attack machine, etc. If you’re taking it down to the shell and rebuilding everything with custom cage, shocks, ECU and race tires…great car. If going this route I’d suggest buying someone else’s race car with a history.

As a daily or whatever…no, too old. Todays highways are insane. They barely have enough power to keep up with traffic and crash like eggs. Any generation of Miata is safer since they have floors built like brick S houses.

A fundamentally excellent car but also an antique.

It has more Horsepower than my fusion hybrid does. Are you saying that I should not drive on a highway because it can't keep up?

Crash test ratings make sense. Old cars are extremely dangerous when compared to anything even remotely new. They look nice but they're a death trap.

It would depend on exactly how this particular 944 is set up. More or less power on paper is one thing but most 944s have less than 200hp and very narrow power bands and/or turbo lag and only a five speed. So in actual daily driving the soul-sucking Ford POS would require way less effort from the driver to maintain position in highway traffic.

On the track…the Ford would eat it’s tires in three laps with the winner easily being the 944.
