    Another which gun thread

So I have a pile of Ions, so pretty much there's never an outing without teching involved. I would love an upgrade for my mech Ion. The question is this: M170R vs Shocker CVO vs just building a sick EMEK for the same price maybe even cheaper. Trigger feel is very important to me, plus the Shocker comes with anything I would upgrade anyway so I'm leaning more that way. However the Emek is much cheaper and there's more room to customize it and make it my own. The 170 seems to be well built and great to just run out of the box, but I've read alot of people prefer the Emek still, even with it's cheaper materials. So if anyone has used any or all 3 of these I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

If trigger feel is most important to you, the CVO is the gun to get. The M170R with a hAir trigger gets close but the CVO is widely considered to have the best trigger. Additional plus side is that, internally, it's still the same platform as your mech ion. You don't have to learn/get used to a new platform.

That said, the M170R is going to be more reliable (not to say the CVO is unreliable, just that the gamma core is damn near indestructible), more efficient, and shoot a little better. I find the CVO to be a bit kicky by comparison.

Personally, I'd get the M170R over an upgraded emek. The front grip on the 170 is nicer, and you can't really upgrade that on an emek.

If you got the extra cash and want something shiny the M170R is hands down one of the best Mech markers you can get your hands on. The Reason is Efficiency and reliability.

If you don’t care about looks The indestructible lightweight Emek is the way to go. Most players have a preferred barrel they use by now. So you save there. Throw a aftermarket adjustable trigger in it or drill and tap the stock one for a grub screw and you will have a much cheaper M170R.

Want them to really rip DW valve them.

I sold my M170R and kept my Emek because after a trigger job i couldn’t tell the difference between the two. I could buy several emeks for the price of one M170R. I have beat the hell out of it for 2 seasons of 10man events with nothing but basic maintenance. Wipe down the engine and valve pin relube and put it back together. Its never let me down shoots in any condition and you don’t have to worry about scratching up a fancy Ano. Bad dive who cares smash it on a rock who cares. Break it in half (Trust me I have tried) who cares. After two years of beating the hell out of it I have already gotten my money’s worth. This will be my 3rd season with lots of Mech events lined up. You can’t break theses things if you tried.

Careful, Maggymoo, your bias is showing.

The CVO trigger is INSANE. This was my first time out with it, all I did was tighten up the trigger and add a trigger shoe.

Emek is defintly the best if you want to customize, more options than anything else and you can beat the hell out of it and not feel bad.

170R is really nice but I thought the trigger on the CVO was better. In every other way it's just an aluminum emek.
