Excellent write-up. A well-cared for reg gives me tremendous peace of mind with all my guns.

Not that the type matters much, but what are you using for grease on the o-rings? After cleaning all the old Dow 33 off of all my Max Flos and replacing with Magnalube, they seem much happier. Which is great, since I have a pound of Magnalube, and that beats paying out the nose for Dow 33.😁

Actually, that is not how you assemble this regulator. The on/off cam assy and knob goes in before the on/off pin assy. This is done this way so you can check the function of the on/off cam assy before assembling the spring and clip. It is accomplished by setting the on/off pin assy on top of a bic pen and while holding the reg body insert the on/off pin assy and pen up in there, while applying pressure and turning the knob you can see the pen moving up and down, confirming you have it in right.πŸ˜‰

What should be greased on this? Obviously the piston and spring pack. Anything else? On/off cam?

Any recommendations for how exactly to torque one of these down?

Yes. There is a special tool that had to be made and approved by TK, that fits a 1/2" torque wrench. I have made one and you are free to borrow it. The reg must be torqued to 25 ft lbs. No loctite should be used. Shoot me an email at tunaman5@verizon.net and I'll hook you up. Believe it or not, the way I do it is to sit on the torque wrench and turn the bottle. Works great this way. 25 ft lbs is not that tight. With this tool you can leave the gauges and fill nipple on. They play into the correct positioning of the tool.
