If the VF cocker deal window is closing, snag it. Emeks are cheap enough you can save your pennies and snag one later.

Personally, I started on an automag then went to cockers. In my closet I've got 2 cockers and a mag I bust out when nostalgia hits, but when I want a reliable, comfortable, efficient, fast shooter I use my Emek.

Flyweightnate mentioned that he does not want to tinker with his guns, he wants to grab one, hit the field and have a great time playing paintball. I totally get that and respect it but I am the opposite, I love tinkering with my gear. To me, there is something that is really satisfying about building and tuning my marker to run like a sewing machine and playing with a marker that I have personalized to my style. Autocockers for sure let me scratch that itch and imo are as much fun to work on as they are to play with.

As far as advice, I would say that if you just want to go play with a gun that performs out of the box with very little tweaking go with one of the modern spool guns, if you want something to tinker with and upgrade then the autococker may be perfect.

Absolutely. As was Nate - to a more insane degree than most, even among the MCB collective. Time changes things.

If this is your only gun and is meant to be a shooter, I'd stay away from anything autococker-based. Too many things you go wrong for no real benefit besides the mechanical intrigue of the platform.

I'm a big fan of both the eNMEy and the Emek and own both (or rather, an eNMEy and an EMF-100)
The Emek is the better gun on paper but the eNMEy has always felt better in my hands, mostly because it's more compact and puts the feedneck right above your trigger finger, like my old 'cockers. The trigger has never bothered me.

Based on what you say you're looking for, either of these would be the "correct" answer.

Get the cheapest emek you can find, and enjoy it. From all reports, they just rule.

I ended up finding a spare parts cocker in my brothers stuff I'd given to him a while back that seems it'll work with a bit of rehab so I guess my dilemma sorted itself. I am still curious to learn more about the Emeks, eNMeys etc., as I'm sure I'll end up with one at some point but at least now I can wait until I get one in my hands before actually buying something. Thanks guys!

This is the most MCB ending to this story I could have imagined.

It's going to be even more MCB style when he buys a complete gun to cannabalize for parts for this gun he pulled out of a box, only to end up with another near complete parts gun that just needs a couple things to be a nice shooter.

Yes necro, undead, franken, parts bin cockers make for the most satisfying, and fun project markers.

eNMEy's are awesome guns. They were all the rage just a few years ago, but since the Emek came out, everybody started hating on them for some reason. I love PE, but some of their hardcore fans can be snobs.

The eNMEy feels very much like a cocker. The bolt moves forward with your trigger pull, and back with it's release. Because of this, I think it has a lot of character. It doesn't feel soulless. The GRN grip is sturdy and doesn't twist or bend at all. And there are lots of cool mods you can do to it. The blue one pictured has a gas-though mod using an Empire Relay, and it has a plastic block installed under the trigger to limit pre-travel. The trigger pull is literally about 2mm, very snappy, and insanely fast. There are also Ion body mods you can do. That's up on my list for it. But it's really a fantastic little gun. And the best part is they're dirt cheap. I paid about $160 for my pair as they sit (minus barrels, I've had those). You absolutely cannot beat them.

I'm with you, I love my eNMey AND I recently picked up a Gmek and have been enjoying it.

The Gmek is great, and I really regret selling mine. Fortunately, I sold it without the upgrades, so I still have them sitting around for when I pick up another one. I'm glad I didn't get rid of ALL of it. Lol

I hate ENMEy's because they confuse search queries for system X NME's

But more importantly because they are smart parts guns. They could be the best thing on the entire planet and I would still look elsewhere if I could help it. Slime balls closing down their business to deny their workers pensions and starting a new business right away doing the same thing? Those guys can eat a turd.

Keep in mind that the emek us not "plastic", but glass reinforced nylon. They work no matter what you put them through and are super easy to maintain. And the Gammacore. I'm a big fan. The eNMEy doesn't compare in my opinion.

Aaaaaand I still ended up with the VF tactical anyways. It came with an endgame compression (silenced) barrel and a riccochet hopper, and the one I found in the old gearbag needs a new reg so the price seemed all the more reasonable.

Get some Lapco sizers, AKA bottlenecks, or an iFit kit for that compression barrel. That sounds fun.

I ordered up an iFit shortly after I got it home. Suprisingly, no leaks after sitting for 5 years (all orings are original from 2004 or 2005). Shot 270-290 over the chrony. The barrel seems pretty cool, should help me be super sneaky while I crash through the bush like a drunk rhino.
