Nothing to contribute, really... But I laughed at some of the people who upgraded boards back in the day. Then they complain about them malfunctioning or flat-out breaking. I'd just use something with a rock solid factory board and call it a day.
ICD boards are pretty solid IMO. I've put my old 2k2 BKO through a lot, and the factory board still works just fine. Heck, it's not even really a board. 3/4 of the "board" was open space with a hole to mount into the frame. I cut that 3/4 off and tossed the chip (lol) into the tray.
