Troubleshooting an old Spyder ASA HPR

    Hi all,

I have an EM-1 with one of the old integrated HPRs that I am having trouble getting to not leak. There is not great information online, unfortunately so I am at an impasse.

It is leaking by the velocity adjustment screw in the side and I can't find a seal that may need replacing or anything that seems out of place. I have considered teflon taping the adjustment screw but it seems silly that Kingman would rely on that little screw to not leak so I feel like I am missing something here.

There's a part inside with orings on it that you'll have to blow out with a bit of air (safely).

You're probably better off getting a Bushmaster VASA for it though. These regs suck.

Do you know where exactly? I took it apart and took the piston and shim stack out and couldn’t see any other seals. Taking out the adjuster screw also didn’t give any indication where any other seals might be.

This guy did a disassembly video for it: https://youtu.be/ZqglkZ_Nug8

You're almost certainly having the same issue he is having. I also had it. The only way to get the piece out is to blow it out. Just remember to wear eye protection and point it away from you into some blankets or something. I recommend using a remote line with slide check to control the flow of the air.
