    Best Electro Blowback?

What are some good electro blowbacks in terms of smoothness and build quality? Anything comparable to a pneumatic? I shot a Spyder Electra the other day and it wasn't as bad as I thought.

I haven't personally shot one, but I imagine that the Spyder VS2 is way up there... low pressure balance valve, reduced mass striker and delrin bolt... just seems like a good recipe.
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

Agreed. I've heard the balanced valves can be a little funky to get just right, but once they're set up they're good. In my own experience I haven't really noticed a difference between most STBBs with electro sear trippers

I set up a balance valve in a Game Face Vexor for a while. It was relatively plug and play.

Had to punch out the striker stop pin, which left two holes that needed to be filled or it wouldn't recock. I just pinched my fingers over the wholes for the initial testing. I used an ANS regulator, weak valve spring, and I think the stock VS3 mainspring.

It shot to velocity just fine, operated reliably (when I plugged the holes), and was not any different to set up than any other blowback valve.

Most of them are pretty good, I've found that they're reliant on good/fresh batteries as a sear tripper solenoid sucks a bit of juice. I have a PMI Piranha with a T-Board that absolutely shreds at 20+ bps.

      I love hearing this!

The Spyder VS series are very good, The Piranha Evo is also very good. i'd say a Spyder VS2 or Evo with a T-board is probably the ultimate ESTBB

I have an Evo, the T-boarded Piranha is just a lame E-force with the turbo feed, it's like a shitty Honda Civic with a 454 v8(I even put racing stripes on it!).

Theres a pic in the misc. section.

Shocked no one has mentioned Azodin yet. They're better built than most, and shoot quite a bit smoother than any Spyder I've shot.

...But I mean, it's still a blowback, You can only polish a turd so much.

The Azodin Blitz is pretty good for what it is.

Yeah, I've got a couple of Blitzes for backup and they're decent. Multiple fire modes and IMO they shoot quite a bit smoother than the Spyder Imagine I have also. I've also got a couple of spool valve guns and a poppet and have shot them all back to back. Of course Blitz isn't anything close to one of those in smoothness but it's better than you'd think. They're very loud though but so is a Spyder.

Surprised no one has mentioned the spyder fenix. It has eyes... semi auto... ramp... and full auto... electronic trigger.

Pretty shocking level of technology for a spyder... but the best one I’ve seen.

The EKO valve and regulator actually do alright on it, too.

It's still just a STBB, though, nothing anymore refined over anything else as far as shot quality... it just has lots of modes of shooting. It is built well, though... light, tough, not completely hideous.

I still think that you find a higher quality shot in the balance valve. That thing feels... effortless. I don't know if that's the right word. But a normal Spyder feels like it's doing work when it fires... and the balance valve just fires.

There is still kick associated with the moving mass. Still the pop associated with the valve. But it all seems like it's flowing rather than actually having to do work. There's a palpable difference in quality of the shot, that no number of firing modes will ever make up for.

If you polish really, really hard, you might be surprised. This was a project almost 20 years ago, but it absolutely rocked on full siphon.
On fullauto with eyes, it makes a hillarious vapor cloud that makes the newbs run away scared!

Woah, slow down there... is that a Montneel with an E-spyder frame and custom anodized?

Spyder VS2 is great. The reg is mediocre but works ok. The VS3 body shrouds the barrel slightly so some barrels won't fit.

Probably the best to shoot though is a Balanced Valve Spyder AMG. Same shot really but it just sits nicely and feels good in the hands.

That said I have a rocket valve modded Spyder MR2 that shoots amazingly.

I agree the AMGs feel great. They are incredibly balanced.

I have a VS3 body that I am hacking up to remove the stupid tabs that interfere with barrels and front blocks. Hacksaw and a hand file, breaking the hard edges, and rounding/blending it all to the eye covers. Just for fun.

I know the VS series come with bottomline regs, but there is an adapter for one on the front block. Would running the front block reg mess with the LP operation since you lose all the volume in the grip?

Nope. There is not enough volume in the line to matter.

You will actually want to chuck that bottom line reg on the VS series right in the trash. Buy an in-line reg adapter and put whatever reg you prefer in it.

The old spyder bottom line regs weren’t too bad... not great but adequate. I could never get the VS bottom line reg to work right. It’s s crappy design or suffers from crappy quality, never bothered to figure out which.

Do the VS's come standard with rocking trigger frame? Are there any aftermarket boards for it? And do normal 9 volt batteries work on it?

Not sure on boards now but that silly rocking trigger is stock on the vs3. From what I understand, they still work best with the 9.6v rechargeables.

It's a 9.6v frame. And you can still find Tadeo boards for them.

Why you would want to is another question entirely.

            Fred aka ChoSanJuan,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Are there any aftermarket frames that would work with a VS3 that aren't silly rocking trigger?

I don't know of any aftermarket, but the VS2 frame should work on a VS3. Obviously just get a VS2 if you don't already have the VS3. Lol.

Pretty sure it's a 9.6v frame, too, though.

Those are too fancy for me lol. Honestly, I have limited knowledge on the Spyder branded Spyders. I think there are some slight frame differences from the Kingman/early Kee Spyders to the Spyder branded (GI Sportz) ones. I'll let the others speak to that. If they fit, and you want a fun aftermarket frame, try to find a Centerflag Hyperframe or Booyeah or Mako Storm.
