So, i ended up picking up an early Empire ASA reg. the one with the rail on the bottom.
My first cocker built is nearly done, just a few leak to track down:

        Sorry, I'm not sure I understand ...
I moded the frame to be an air-through frame, I may make a build thread in the cocker section if people are interested.

XEMON How high can you push the pressure output on those empire regulators? Do they vent at a certain pressure?

I think they are supposed to vent at (or around) 300 ... Which might be a little low ...
im planning to stiffen the vent spring (or plug the vent all together) as needed. The reg is a standard simple and straight forward design so much m not worried about pushing it a bit ...

Yeah for sure - I was thinking of using one of them for a capped mag project, but would need to push it to probably 450psi. Cool to see what you are doing with it

What about using a standard reg right next to the asa...?
have a male to male connection out the side of an ASA going into the side of a standard, side port, reg and then have the another quick connect coming out the top the the marker.

            lol

That's a very old-school way to go about it, but it will certainly work. Some Shocker owners did that with the early Max Flo (and I've seen it with other regs), since that reg could be mounted in a variety of ways. I did it that way with a Unireg into a gutted Automag just for the hell of it. Worked fine. This method allows you to use damn-near any HPR you want.

lew summed it up ... I have done it enough times ...

But, this is an air-through project. I needed the air line to go through the frame and be as small as possible.
My first version had a female stab with the outlet facing up (through the bottom of the frame). It was really long, I wanted something smaller.

So I got this going. It's the same size as any regular asa and has the outlet towards the top, so no wired elbow and tubing trying to sneak under the grip panels ...

In the same boat, would be cool to not have a vertical regulator.

Ideally I could run a Ninja SLP reg since they are set to 300, then use the right springs/valve. Or if it's too much of a pain, just use a reg.
