    HPR Recomendations

I'm thinking about picking up a new HPR for my 'cocker pump and am not really sure what the options are anymore. I know Dye and Inception both make one, are there any other choices? Any recommendations / parts to avoid?

    Cheers!

For something slow-shooting like a cocker pump you could pretty much use anything. I'm fond of CCM regs for cockers, but they have gone way up in price. CP makes really solid regs that won't break the bank. AKA still makes Sidewinders if you're feeling spendy. Honestly i think the biggest decision is going to be aesthetics, any of the big name regs should perform just fine.

CP is easy to find, stable and consistent.

Jonny, as usual, is spot on. The majority of my markers have CP regs simply because they are easily available (especially in Canada) and come in colours! But find what looks pretty on it and go from there.

Same. I have CP regs on at least 3 of my guns, great regs that look pretty good and do their job.

I, too, have a lot of CP regs. You can't beat them.

My go-to's for cockers and pumps are the AKA Sidewinder & Inception v3. You can't go wrong with a CP of course as well.

aka sidewinder, cp, inception, shocktech are all viable options.

I am not a fan of ccm or palmers personally.

Yes, pretty good. No issues on mine. And CP stands behind their products. I also have their detent and the first one I received was defective in that the ball shot out within like 10 shots. I notified them and it was replaced immediately.

Find one you like the esthetic of. My personal favorite is the AKA 2L+ but a reg is a reg when it comes to pump. Set it and forget it.

yes, very good. Take it apart when you get it and put the body back together hand tight, as tight as you can without needing tools , that way it won't bind in the future

The company is really a stand up and I'm glad they are still around

Short side story, I got my hands on a couple of cp regs through trades and needed a seat for one and decided to replace the seat in the other. After looking around and not really finding them I contacted CP direct. Explained my situation and that I was looking for a few seats. I made it very clear this was NOT a warranty issue as I got these used.

CP sent me free parts anyway

Good design and a stand up company

They will still do that with their old tank regs to. I wish they would re design the look of there regs it’s really the only thing I don’t like about them.

I agree. I am not a fan of the rounded end/fluted look.

I think it the fitting placement that annoys me the most about them. While out of the way I just don’t like how the macro sits in them. I know they perform great it’s probably easier to machine as well making them cheaper. The ST one definitely looks better. But even with a jazzy fitting it looks off to me. I think that’s why I like the AKA regs. The sidewinder comes in various lengths for that perfect fit, and the 2L+ (my personal favorite) has a lock collar that you can place the reg in that perfectly aligned position. They fit good on just about anything. Of course they are on the more expensive side approx ($30 more)

I've been using AKA Sidewinders for twenty or so years on Cockers (mechanical and E-Blade) and Gen-E/DM3 Matrices. Excellent performance across the board, smooth exterior lines, easy to take apart and service (not that I need to do that often), and I like the placement of the air fitting.

With the exception of WGP's Black Magic HPR, I do not care for regs with the air fitting at the middle or the top of the regulator body- ANS, Palmer's, Air America. The only performance/durability issues I've had were with CP and ANS regs.

Just to add to the pile, I'm really fond of these, and they are a really good value right now compared to all of the other regs, considering they are normally $130

Planet Eclipse has made the SL3 regulator a stand-alone product exclusively for Paintball Gateway. The SL3 is the latest regulator found on the Eclipse SLS, GEO2, and EGO11 markers, and is now available to the public only from Paintball Gateway. The regulator is accurate and has a high flow rate, plus better stability
