Freak ss back with smart parts on it?

I swear i remember watching paintball videos from 2005ish where teams had ss freak backs with smart parts milled out. Does anyone know if these were only offered to team players?

I've only seen the freak milled backs come up for sale.

Copied both the photo and the text from www.zdspb.com - a treasure trove for all things Smart Parts. The barrel is the original Freak 2000-20001. No mention of it only being offered to teams. I believe I have one of those buried somewhere.

"Freak backs originally said SMARTPARTS as pictured. Also, the original Freak fronts used spiral teardrop porting that was first used on their Big Daddy barrels, but weren't curved like the 02 versions (the front was straight like all the other 2000 barrels, see the Big Daddy barrel for pictures)."

      Thanks a ton!

I seem to recall them for retail sale back after they first came out, so I don't think their distribution was solely limited to teams. However, I didn't see them for long before the next iteration came out.

They made them in black too. These are some of my Spyder Freak backs with the black anodize version of what you're seeking at the top. I'd still like to find a similar stainless back to add to the collection.

I don't think I've ever seen the black version. I'm guessing that is considered super rare?

No idea on rarity, but I'd guess that they were made in large quantity.

The black backs with 'Smart Parts' are not terribly common. The aluminum back that just says "Freak" are almost a dime a dozen, and were standard on Impulses, Shocker SFT's, and so on.

Huh, I’ve never seen the aluminum backs with the Smart Parts cutout. I have a black stainless back though. It’s the curvy stainless style with bore windows. Bottom style in surf’s pic
