A tough one: Need to replace a Schrader valve in a co2 tank

I've got a cool 4oz co2 tank that falls under the 2x2 rule that I don't want to lose. It sputters out around the valve stem. At first, I was just going to swap the whole valve assembly from a tank that I don't use anymore to this one. Then we realized that it's got a serviceable Schrader valve in it. Anyone know which one I need to get so I don't buy 50 off of Amazon for $10 but have the wrong stem length? I don't mind buying them in bulk since I'll need to replace it some time down the road or can even use them on some tires too. Just need help identifying the right ones.

I've tried that with mine ... Could not find the right stem/seal for the valve ...
it might be easier/cheaper to get a whole new valve (~$10-15) and start from fresh.

The bicycle shredder valves are not the same size ... Same principle, but different parts (at least mine)

They will have a drawer of them, mix and match till you find the right length. I changed them out back in the day with ones I had.

Welp, I called the local big time, local bike shop. They said come on over and check out their pile of schraders. First time grab and I was the right one that sits flush to the top of the valve body and clears the retainer lug! The real moment of truth is getting it filled.

The real moment of truth is pulling a valve stem out of your thigh after the flimsy little POS stripped its threads out and shot out of the tank like a brass bullet.

I’ve never seen that happen, no. The idea of using a valve that puny doesn’t fill me with confidence though, both because of how little thread engagement there is and also the wobbliness of the valve pin. I would go with a Tippmann style. I just stole the last burst disc from my last expired tank, otherwise I’d just give you one.

Interesting... That's probably why there's a retainer lug on it the sits at the top of the whole valve assembly. I'm sure you'll be one of the first to know if I've got a tiny piece of brass lodged somewhere in my body.

I've got other expired tanks that I could move to this one. Problem is that a few of us have tried to hear the valve and spin it off... It won't budge. That's when we realized it was a schrader valve. It's lasted this long with that setup, I'm sure it will be fine from here on out till the valve seat degrades like the original.

Yeah, those suckers can be nearly impossible to bust loose. Some of that silicone grip tape is essential, along with a vice and a good strap wrench.

I wonder if this tank was made for some use other than paintball originally. I don’t remember any CA before the SMG and that thing had the same style valve they use today, I’m pretty sure.
