Tank Reg 4500reg on 3000 tank

I have a 4500 Gi tank that I sent out for hydro, I took the reg off. I bought a Powerhouse Gen3 Haymkr 500 to replace it.

I also bought a 9ci Tank for my phantom. I want to put the Gi reg on the 9ci tank. The reg came off a 4500psi tank would it be ok to put onto a 3000psi tank ?

    Yes and no.

Yes you can do it. But make sure you switch out the burst disk to 3k tank spec, so nobody accidentally over charges it. You can’t (well shouldn’t) just spin it on and go. Definitely change out the burst disks for safety.

Keep in mind the PH 4.5k reg is a little bit lower output pressure then you want to run on the Phantom. You would need to switch springs on your Phantom to run at a lower pressure. Or set the PH reg to 800-825psi in that case your Phantom will work on HPA, C02 and 12G with the stock silver springs. I recommend getting a dedicated tank reg for the phantom they operate best @825psi something that’s a little high for most other markers. I run a cheap 3k Gorilla air reg on mine that’s shimmed up to 825. It only adds approx 1/2” in length.

Setting the PH reg is pretty straightforward, here’s a cheat sheet. Looks like 1.5 turns out for the pressure you’re looking for.

i had a 3k reg on a 4.5k tank and vice versa. As it was stated above, you have to swap the discs. Keep in mind the following though:
        some places wont fill it.
other places will only fill it to the lowest number.
some places dont care what you do.
some stores will see the miss-match and wont touch it.

its best to keep everything equal. 3k reg on 3k tank and vice versa.

The PH regs are easy to change. They are just long expensive and overkill for a Phantom that dose not need a fast recharge rate. My 9ci bottle is setup specifically for my Phantom. I can’t really think of anything else I would use the 9ci on. So I want it as small as I can get. That’s why I like the Gorilla Air/ First Strike reg it only adds a 1/2” in length. The Phantom on stock silver springs sweet spots at 825psi I can get 280fps on HPA throw a bucket on and get 42+ shots to a 12g with very little adjustment over the chrono. (Maybe a 1/8turn in on the TPC) most of the time I just check it to to make sure it’s shooting close and go play.

I think it’s a good call just finding a cheap adjustable 3k reg you can just leave on the 9ci bottle. The Max Tac and Tippmann regs work really good to. They put out about 800psi and most markers have enough adjustment to get field speeds unless you are running a micro setup. They require a lil more pressure with the super short barrels. 825 or 850 is where you want to be to have the most adjustment but most setups will work with the standard 800.
