I sent one of my barrels out to Stanchy to get bored, cut down, and re-threaded

I’m having him take the 3” from the threaded end instead of cutting the porting off. That way I can keep the factory look. I also asked that he doesn’t cut the O-ring groove back in so I can keep the strength in the barrel.

Seems like something like that might be an option for you based on what you’re looking for.

I never really thought of that I guess if you were cutting the threads off you could use any length barrel. It would probably be better to make it a time unit longer so the insert don’t interfere with the porting. You could make it “just long enough for the insert” that’s actually a really cool idea I kind of want one now.

Jeep you remember what SSC charges to do that work? Not a lot of people will cut Phantom threads. I might send him a few barrels to do.

Chuck, I can’t remember what he told me. It wasn’t anything crazy given what we spend on our phantoms, but I bet with everything I’m having done it’ll be $80 or so.

He asked my which ended I wanted cut (obviously cutting the ports would be cheaper since I wouldn’t my have to re-thread.) and I just simply asked that we skip the O-Ring groove and he said “Not a Problem”

He still has my barrel, should be done sometime next week. Once I get the invoice I’ll share cost with everyone.

I run the Freedummy things in my “micro” Phantom. Accuracy is not that great compared to...all my other guns, but freaking isn’t something I’m interested in dealing with. I’ve got two seasons on this exact setup without even taking it apart once so to me that’s what’s important.
