    Gold Plated Guns

Let this be a thread for talk of gold plated guns. Have you ever gold plated a gun before? Do you have a picture? Was it brass or something else? Is it realistic to attempt to plate an aluminum gun?

Some famous-ish gold guns I can think of...obviously Captain Kirk’s sniper (hideous). That one by Air Tech Design (beautiful) that they probably only made one of...to make the advert more smug than text alone could achieve, one assumes...any others?

EDIT: added gold double mag shots

I came across a gold plated PTP Cocker years ago but it was thrashed, really bad shape but don't know the story behind it and how it came to be.

There was a run of automags that were gold plated by/for AGD that had special serial numbers. They are dubbed the “Golden Guns”. I think the SNs have GG in them as the identifier.

A few years ago I picked a gold plated automag locally. It was not one of the official AGD ones. The lady I bought it from played 20 years ago and had it gold plated when she got it. From what I remember the valve was the only part of the gun plated. The plating was extremely thin and when I got it, easily 50% of it was already gone. I stripped the rest of it off since it was very spotty and inconsistent.

The only one I've seen was a gold-plated 007 Emag on MCB 2.0.

Now I want a marker to paint gold, lol.

To be clear I’m talking about gold, number 79 on the periodic table, the element itself.

Like brass but you don’t have to polish it.

In “gold” but not gold I’d have to include yellow Phantoms and Reblines, which are very nice.

Approximately a million years ago, a fellow called Rambopreacher had Palmer's gold-plate a Stroker. He had it clear powdercoated as the gold is very scratch-prone.

Haven't seen that one in years, never knew what happened to it.

                Doc.

I printed (nylon 12 SLS) out my "Dia de los deadbox" emek body and real gold leafed it because I just wanted to watch the world burn.

Lol. "ECAP WHAT?" is about right. That's fantastically pointless. Looks good tho.

I am THE guy who started printing emek bodies..... Might as well have the most ostentatious one.

I did a frame as well but haven't built the whole marker yet.

Here's the other two I've done with gold leaf

I'm also thinking of doing a RT tippmann like these but do white paint under instead of black

                  Thoughts?

RP posted on the old MCB in an attempt to sell the grinder.
i can't remember when he posted but a million years ago when i had the cash, i tried to buy the grinder from him.
he's probably still around... and a kid that was on MCB or PPS, too. right?

A local member owns that gun. It is beautiful.

I owned this plated minimag for awhile about 10 years ago. I think it's somewhere in France now.

Can confirm the "GG" designation mentioned above

-That's the one. Nice to know it's still around!

I haven't heard of or from RP in a good number of years. I got the impression he was in his late 40s, early 50s back in the PPOG days, which were pushing 20 years ago. I suspect he's retured from the strenuous stuff like paintball...

On the gold 'Mag, even more millions of years ago, there was a photo on an old cover of APG, showing two players wearing bright-pink and bright-yellow "armor". It was kind of groundbreaking to most APG readers back in the day, the vast majority of whom still wore camouflage. With the advent of "concept" fields (airball wasn't a thing yet, but "artifical", built fields were starting to be) players started wondering why bother with woodland tones.

Anyway, one of the players was holding an equally-radical-idea double-barreled Automag. Both were power feed MiniMag bodies, and the feed tubes crossed over the top, slightly offset from each other. The regulators were, of course, left and right air feed.

I was given to understand that many years later, after passing through several hands, the then-current owner had the entire gun- or at least the bodies and regs- gold plated. I seem to recall a photo of it at some event, but that's another one I haven't seen nor heard of in quite a while.
