A thing to remember while camping: AG paintball is always running at least a Roto on the airball field on the weekend. That's where AG's customers mostly play. So, even if we mob AG with campers and Stock class players there is still going to be a 100 head turn out both days to play Airball. Aric has built an in demand business model at that field, and because of that the place is constantly busy.

I don't remember where I was going with this.

DAMN WHIPPERSNAPPERS! Playing all the air-ball sucking up the stock-class parking!

So my plan is to swing by Saturday night. Hang out and head home. If that's allowed. Then maybe play Sunday.

Unfortunaly as some know I planned the rebuilding of my mothers deck for that weekend. Got helpers all lined up and then figured out it was Slims. And the helpers dont have time any other close weekend.

        Yes. Totally allowed and welcomed.

Just to be clear... Players who are camping should park in the back (in the area where AG has designated). Players who are NOT camping should park wherever directed by the parking lot crew. If you are NOT camping, please do NOT try to park in the camping area.

        Regarding camping/parking...

I have spoken with the owner, Aric, of Adventure Games and discussed the camping/parking concerns. Aric explained that the only problem of not being able to set up in the camping area on Saturday (for either the Stock Classic or especially Stocktoberfest) is if you arrive after 9:30am/10:00am. The spring and especially the fall are AG's most busiest times that average several hundred players per day. AG fills the front parking lot first ("Lot A"). After the front lot A is filled, they start parking cars in the rear lot ("Lot B"). In lot B, they park the cars in the back first and then up towards the road in order to establish even rows. Once Lot B starts filling up, it is not realistic to have players come back and move their vehicles so a camper who arrives late can set up. This means players who arrive after lot B starts filling up (after around 9:30am or so) will be told that they will have to wait until 4PM to set up in the camping area. Obviously, if you arrive around noon on Saturday, there is no way you'll be able to set up in the proper area.

Aric has asked me to ask all campers to NOT SET UP TENTS or TRAILERS OUTSIDE OF THE DESIGNATED CAMPING AREA. Doing so can make it difficult for other vehicles coming and going to navigate around.

So, if you want to ensure that you'll be able to set up in the camping area, you'll need to arrive either Friday afternoon/evening, or BEFORE 9:30am on Saturday morning. If you arrive AFTER 9:30am and can't get into the camping area, YOU WILL NEED TO WAIT UNTIL 4PM TO SET UP THERE. Again, please DO NOT set up wherever you feel like it. Apparently, this has created some issues in the past but was never mentioned to me as the parking area was still under development.

Both Aric and I work really hard to put these events together and make every effort to create an amazing experience for all. While it's not possible to have everything be perfect, we do try our best to have things go as smoothly as possible. With your help, I'm sure we can do just that. Thanks to all for your understanding and cooperation with this.

I’ll post up quick draw rules soon, probably this weekend, for the uninitiated

        #66
Generally one ball loaded. One shot allowed. Don't move. Fire when official says to. Wear a cup and neck guard. Marker is held at side or holstered but barrel pointed up if rollout issue. More rules will come during high noon the day of.

Probably a stupid question but can we use field paint that we bought in the fall on Saturday?

I’d like to think he’d honor that as it is indeed field paint, but I suppose we should ask

Alright here we go, Quick Draw!

The High Noon Showdown happens at lunch on Saturday. This year lunch is being extended so the participants don’t miss out on food.

1•Any stock class compliant marker is permitted, but only ONE ROUND is allowed on board.

2•players are encouraged to draw from a holster. It doesn’t need to be fancy. We have had a wide range of “holsters” from legit western drop rigs, to paintball specific holsters, to foam Walkman cases, to belt tucks and cargo pockets.

3•if you do not have a holster or are concerned about roll outs, you may start with gun in hand, barrel pointed to the sky. I would however like to mention that nail polish detents really work wonders, you should try them sometime.

4•players start facing each other at a predetermined distance, guns loaded and prepared to fire. No standing sideways.

5•players are asked if they are ready

6•when readiness is achieved, the official will shout “Draw!” at which time both players attempt to shoot their opponent with the single round they had loaded. It should be noted that this is quick draw, not take your sweet time and shoot after the paint dries draw. Any player who has not drawn and fired within 2 seconds of the call forgoes their turn that round. Also this is a showdown, not a hoedown. Your feet must remain glued to the ground for the duration of the round. Moving, dropping, popping, locking jumping and other non-sessile shenanigans will not be permitted.

7•should both players miss, they each take a step forward, reload, and repeat steps 5 and 6

8•should one player hit, the other is eliminated.

9•should both players hit, shot quality determines the win. Center mass trumps extremities, head trumps all. Should this still result in a tie, holster draw trumps drop draw as it is more difficult to draw from a holster and fight gravity than to allow gravity to pull you to your target. Should this STILL result in a draw, players will repeat steps 5 and 6.

10•bounces do not count. The shots must break

11•tournament is done single elimination, winners advancing and dueling until only two remain.

12• this year I’m starting something new, the finalists both get a patch to show off their achievement!

13•the ultimate victor also receives a fancy plaque and the usual notoriety/bragging rights.

Hope this ads some clarity for you all and we hope to see you out there!

              edit: the finalist patches!

I'd like to add that players are NOT allowed to move their feet at any point during the draw. Players can shift their weight, bob up and down slightly, move slightly to from side to side, but must remain fully standing without any foot movement during the shootout.

A year later, July 11th, 1993 I organized Slim's Civil War Day - a single shot (muzzle loading with squeegees)/stock-class event. Thanks for the photos Vito!

                  Fast forward to today...

Staring down your opponent who is standing only a few yards away, hoping you don't have a rollout, knowing you can't move your feet, praying you don't get tagged in your bag, all while waiting for the ref to yell "DRAW!" is an experience unlike any other. Most players don't have the guts. Do you?
