Proshar (Russian made) "Red Menace" paintballs

    Hey everyone,

During a recent accuracy thread I heard about these new-fangled Russian paintballs that were getting good reviews. I looked into them a bit and found they have a U.S. distributor in Florida so I figured I'd give them a trial. I bought a case of the "Red Menace", which seems to be just below their tournament level grade.

    Unboxing and initial thoughts

Box was delivered via UPS and was very well packaged. The box itself is more flexible than GI/Valken boxes, but none of the sealed bags appeared to have any broken paint in them. I got the ruby/gold shell with green fill. The paintballs themselves looked good, nice and round without too big of a seam.

I will update this thread with pictures and more information as the week goes on, stay tuned.

I will leave one outside in the New England summer humidity and see what we can do.

We just used this stuff at a tournament this past weekend. It was the half and half, red and gold. Really reminded me of some sort of Iron Man themed paint. I was really hoping for the 'Murica themed paint, because of the box, but this stuff shot pretty well. Felt it was pretty good in the AM but as the day went on, it got more bounces.

Hey all I finally got a chance to try this paint, full report to come soon.

            Short attention span review:

The Good: Consistent, round shell, bright fill, "larger" bore than some recent

The Bad: Relatively fragile, difficult to see in flight in woods

Overall: Decently priced, consistent paint that has no trouble breaking on target. The fill is fairly bright and the shel is quite fragile. Good paint for more gentle guns or more forgiving weather, NOT recommended for magfed or rougher guns.

Siress While Phantoms are higher pressure guns, in my experience they are not quite as harsh on paint as some Nelsons. I would rate a Phantom around a 6/10, 10 being throwing a paintball into the air and whacking it with a paddle. There will be more details in the full review, but the paint had no issues in my Super Stocker and TONS of issues in my Empire Trracer.

JaggedX5593 used a STBB Piranha in the same tournament I mentioned. It was running at about 650 PSI. It's not full tilt HP blowback, but close enough. The paint did well for him with minimal breaks.
          Working...
