    MacDev GT2

Just like my previous review, I will be posting my initial impressions, as well as a longer followup after extended play. I will also be posting the "backstory" of this marker.

Played with the GT2 last night. It might be new marker excitment, but I liked it. Depsite my typical trigger preference, I found the GT2 very easy to get and keep in ramp. The shot quality is amazing, super smooth but I wouldn't call it mushy.

Only issue was some oddly inconsistent FSDO, and the occasional really low shot. I did pull the bolt out yesterday and there was *a lot* of lube on the bolt, and it appeared to be clear and pretty thick. It didn't look like the MacDev lube to me. Knowing this marker came from Immortal Air, my local field tech thought maybe it was the same lube they use in their regs, which might be too thick.

I did a full clean and relube with the MacDev lube this morning, hopefully that helps with FSDO issues. I also hope that break-in reigns in the consistency.

Despite the insert concerns, I really like the forward angled porting on the barrel. It's quiet, and I think that impacts the impression of the shot. I might pick up a more moderate size, like a .684ish since .681 is way too small for our field paint, but .689 is pretty big. (Yes, I know and understand the barrel bore science, but my personal experience is that a slight overbore yields best results.)

The GT2 has me very curious. I've been on the hunt for wicked smooth spoolies lately. Although, I've wondered if it's worth buying over a user Clone GTi for a 1/3 of the price?

I have not shot a Clone GTi, but I know the engines are virtually the same. However, the ergos on the GT2 are supposed to be way better, and you also get the updated software and oled screen. What it's worth is up to you.

Iā€™m not familiar with Macdevs, but do the boards offer a FSDO dwell add parameter? Could be worth playing around with that.

It does. I left it at "stock" settings last night just to give it a true "out of the box" experience. I believe it's currently set at +2ms after 60sec. I can adjust both the dwell adder and the wait time, however I want to get as close to consistent as possible before forcing things. Playing indoors with winter formula paint, I really don't want to hot-shot anyone.

Quick update on the FSDO issues:

The IA lube wasn't the issue. After a suggestion by Imped4Now to up the dwell and FSDO, I realized that I had FSDO compensation completely off. Since then dwell has been upped from 12ms to 15ms, and FSDO has been set to 2ms after 30s.

In general, the only paint handling issues I had were due to the bolt stick, which is my own fault. It shot beautifully during sustained ramp.
