So I will have my portable grill and hot dogs for lunch Saturday. There will also be a food truck on site that is usually pretty good, but free food always taste better.
I had a blast, though I got separated from the group. The guys I brought down really liked the caves over the top field so, I stayed in the caves to to a team player for them.
Now that I'm well rested, and sitting in a dark hotel waiting for my bish friends to wake up so we can drive home. I figured Id share some highlights of the trip so far
I got a couple of friends to agree to come down with me on my " miss no work terms". I worked until 2:30. And headed to my buddy Kyle's house to load hear into his suv. We then headed south to grab our third friend Michael. He worked til 4pm, so we had to wait for him a bit to finish his shift. We load his gear and head south. ETA to our hotel 10:02pm. The car for way better milage than we expected so we didn't get gas until 7pm when we were all simply so hungry we needed to stop. We hit a Jimmy John's, ordered sammies, and Kyle drove next door to top his car off for the rest of the trip down. I sent a snapshot message to my wife and set my phone down on a stand up bar like table at JJs. Our Sammie are ready. We grab them and ran to the car. I left my phone at Jimmy John's. We drove a half hour south. While eating and chatting. Then we passed a road sign stating that you should put your phone away to stay alive.. " huh, I havent seen my phone since Jimmy Johns..." I check all pockets... the guys insisted we turn around. We then did a one hour loop BACK to Jimmy John's for my phone. I had to buy Kyle a cookie for the inconvenience. So new ETA.. 11:30. We grinded the rest of the road trip and got to our hotel. And we had a whole Benny hill scene trying to get our gear through the worlds tiniest elevator.
Wake up Saturday for GameDay we are pumped! We get to jeagers early. OpusX is already at the field welcoming us with hugs. We start to gear up. My buddy Kyle has a lazarus in his rezzy he wanted to use. I spent time at the chrono with him, and it sprung a leak. He took it to jeagers phenomenal pro shop, and they determined his hpr was toast, and rebuilt it on the spot. Myrkul had showed up at some point within this time frame. Prior to the game him and I discussed my using his super duper poo build 98c for this game. He handed me the piece of tippmann mastery, and the 900psi tank he uses for it. I played most of the morning with that. Shooting a well tuned super rtd tippmann brought me back to the height of my outlawball days. I got some fun Gs with that bad boy, and burned up half my case.
At this point, the caves were filling up, and I our group was huge! I was lost in a blur of beautiful guns and great chat. My friends Kyle and Michael wanted to see the top field, and I was " shiny red balling " talking to all of the new faces. So I told them to go ahead and play up there I'll stay down in the caves with the mcb group. Issue is they left their gear with me.
An hour or so passes. And the mcb group wants to go up top to get some sun, grill some lunch. And hang. I was waiting for my buddies to come back to claim their gear so we could follow suit. One by one gear bags rolled away from the common tables we had. Eventually I was alone with 3 gear bags. So I started filing my stuff away. Jeagers has awesome yard carts for hauling gear in and out of the caves. I took excess gear to the car, and grabbed a cart. I got my gearbag situated, dropped it on the cart. Then my buddies came around the corner. They were like yeah, the caves are way cooler, we want to keep playing down here.. So I shrugged and ran games with them for the day. I wanted my buddies to have fun. We gelled up nice with some local random ballers and we really had a blast down there.
Eventually Kyle's knee started bothering him so he sat out the rest of the day. Michael and I played on til 4. Kyle wanted to go wash up and get BBQ. I wanted to go hang with the mcb crew. But I felt bad as he was a hurting unit. So we left the field, washed up, and headed to Jack Stacks. Opusx, Myrkul, and nobbie333 came to meet us. We had a delightful pile of meat over some awesome conversation.
My only down side of the day is I didn't get to hang with the MCB crew enough, but tis life.
Oh no! Was hoping you hadn’t gotten stuck down in the cave much longer than when I headed up top, but don’t remember seeing you again after that. Would have come back to the caves if it weren’t for my glasses fogging up so bad down there with my mask on. Didn’t really get to properly enjoy the cave.
Was also trying to balance time between my friends and the MCB crew. Ha the struggle is real.
It was good putting some faces to the names! I kinda lost track of most people towards the end of the day, but overall it was a ton of fun!
I had forgotten how bad E1 Eblades chew through batteries. Swapped in a brand new Duracell 9-volt the night before the game, by the time we left at the end of the day I was down to about 40% and it was no longer recocking reliably! lol

It was my first year as an MCB'er and I got to actually join in and play for the first time in years. Great day, great games, and pretty damn decent company. Great time all around, really. Thank you to everybody that made it out for an awesome first day back.
