Can I get some camping suggestions for campsites I can can put my small 20' camper on? Preferably quietish ones. I've never been to d day specifically, but typically camping at the events includes close quarters camping, and random people coming and going to chat.

How is camping at D day? Any state parks with semi private electric sites I could reserve early?

I see there are a few state parks near, but I cant for the life of me find contact information for twin bridges which seems to be a great park and good location. Anyone know how to lock down a reservation for them?
That’s awesome your buddy is sober!! 2 months sober myself!

Best bet for the camping piece is to join the D-Day Oklahoma FB group, wish I could help more

      Danny,

congrats on 2 months! Every day is its own challenge and its own reward! I can't claim to have attempted to tackle sobriety myself, but remaining sober for a duration of time to spend time with my friends is a no brainer.

Another mutual friend has also sought after his sobriety after my post. I hope to get him out to d day as well. He has statically been a flake on plans, but his drinking was a huge factor. Im hoping his sobriety will assist in his coming out.

As for the Facebook group. I cant do that. I've quit the book ever since watching the Social Delima and noticing patterns that have been used on me. I decided to beat the algorithm by simply walking away from it all. That being said, thats a huge reason I'm always on mcb lately as its currently my only internet outlet.

If it all works out I'll be bringing my camper and 2 sober dudes out for this ( still very early phases of planning) but I know the field (in general) is a place we used to party and mingle at events so I really think I'd need to find off site camping myself to prevent my friends from being uncomfortable.

Unless you guys know if D-Day has some sites that are semi isolated. And or the place isn't one super party after 9pm, but from the stories I've heard, it'll be a party. In all honestly I'd be disappointed if it wasn't. The last D-Day ought to be qn epic event all weekend with stories to tell for years.

Answers to the your Camping question from the FB group:

”There are quite a few camper spots available at the park itself. But if you are looking for quiet, I’m not sure if that is the thing to do. ”

”There is a casino about 5 miles from the park with full hookups. I have found that to get the full experience, you want to camp with your unit. Even if that means forgoing electricity. You can run a generator during the day for your AC. For several years, I brought a pop up camper and set it up in my unit camping area. The last few years, I switched to a tent and toughed out the heat.”

”2019 had a lot of open space randomly throughout the grounds. Tons of it. You could easily camp farther away from us noisier camps and just come visit at you leisure. We would love to have you at least be within walking distance of the fun.”

Super excited. This will be my first time heading there as well. I love Fulda, and am hoping for something like that. Love lots of targets and chaos. I'm trying to get some of my teammates from the East Coast in as well, but it's a lot easier now for me, being in CO. I'm trying to just figure out how many days I'll be playing.

They do not allow launchers. To kill tanks, you need to use a special color paint, and have an approved marker for it. They want it to look "realistic" so most people get a big PVC pipe, and make a cutout slot for thier gun. Then they paint the tube.

You also have to talk to somebody to be and AT person. There's limited amounts of them available.
They had problems with people abusing launchers, and causing dangerous sitations, so they outlawed them.

I have played AT for several years and participate in the inspection and orientation of AT, so I will help out on this subject (and any other for that matter) as much as I can.

Matrix Agent is correct; no Havoks or other launchers are allowed. Anti-tank (AT) is marker-in-a-tube. Each side has specific requirements for the tubes its AT players can use. In general, German AT must resemble a Panzerfaust or a Panzerschreck. Allied players' tubes must resemble a bazooka or a PIAT. LMK if you need specifics; tubes MUST meet specific requirements before special-fill AT paint can be purchased. Also, the ONLY feed mechanism allowed is ten round tubes.

To eliminate an AFV and a *very* limited number of structures, AT must hit a kill sticker (ranging from 2" square to 7" square} and leave a splat of quarter size or larger with the AT paint.

Just skimmed the event ticket site on my lunch break at work. How does this work for pre reg. Want to save money if possible and choose the ticket for access to the whole event. May go since it will be the last and ive never been.

I'm trying to register. Is it not open for registration right now for anyone not under 15? Those are the only tickets showing up for me.

Try scrolling down in the sub-window with the ticket types. There should still be different types of tickets available including full week and 3-day, but the 15-and-under tickets are the first to show up on top of the window. Hope that works out for you.

Count my wife and I in with 3-day passes. Looking forward to a big turnout and sending out the event with a bang. We've camped in years past but this year decided to stay in a hotel to get a good night's rest as old folks. Traveling from Colorado.

The last one ever? This has always been on my bucket list. I don't think I'm going to be able to go this year. Now I'm big sad

Wife and I will be traveling from Michigan. Have another team mate from Iowa coming too. We will be camping on site. Hope to convince a few more to go!

It’s a shame this is the last one, but I’m super excited for this year. Hopefully going down with a group of 6+.

We’re brining a pile of pump markers and a hand chrono to screw around with when there aren’t big activities going on.
