    Skipping the Inline Regulator

    Does anyone run their Autococker without an inline regulator? I'm curious to see if that's common at all and if there's a big performance difference.

    It can be done if you springs are tuned to your tanks output pressure.

    Common? More so in the days of CO2.

    The inline reg makes things easier to tune.

      I thought about trying this too. If you used a low pressure output, like a Ninja SLP, and the right springs/valve then yeah mayybe. Then you have to wonder if the recharge rate of tank reg is enough, will it spike, etc. Inline regs do make things easier.

        Used to run CO2 on autocockers at full bottle pressure. You just have to spring it harder, which means higher LPR pressure, which means a less smooth shot (but still not bad).

        There are no real pros to doing this, but no real cons either.

          I have an 800psi/CO2 cocker setup with an expansion and no regulator. She is a sewing machine. It is possible if you're willing to play the spring balance game.

              This one [obviously] didn't have one. The lower tube was bored out far enough that the front frame screw needed to be teflon taped. I threw green/green madmann springs in it and it shot 290 ish.

                My first and I still own autococker has never had an inline regulator on it. Never had a velocity issue.

                  This is the 'cocker in question. I have a set of newer internals but I'm sure I'd need an inline regulator with the springs I have. The goal is to make it a simple workhorse. It would be nice to make the trigger smoother and a tad lighter. The 3-way is the old brass style with cir-clips.

                    Planning another old school inspired build, wanted to maybe try a stock class sniper, or open class and skip the reg. A 13ci going straight into the vertical ASA and a stock would be fun.

                      There are vertical ASA extenders that can actuate pin valves and don't have a pin valve on the output.

                      As it turns out I have one. There was a Palmer ASA with 1/8 threads on my Defiant that has the pin.

                    I changed the setup to more what I was thinking. Got rid of the heavy silver vert ASA. Took off the bright red Kapp beavertail as well. Going to test it further without an inline/bottomline regulator.

                    I did try it with a vertical 13ci and L-stock but it felt a bit unwieldy.
