No hex slot in the lug?

I am fiddling with a PTP full-body cocker and cannot, for the life of me, find a slot for a hex head through the top of the body. Is there a chance that this hammer lug isn't adjustable from the top?

The threads have been in the same place long enough to create little troughs in the body so I think it is possible this lug has never moved.

Originally, hammer lugs were adjusted on the bottom with the trigger frame off.

Timing is a pain on those. The original manual recommended a certain spacing out from the body.

Yup, that is why we would just drill a whole through the body to get to the lug from the top. I am surprised one of Forrest's PTP bodies does not already have the hole because he came up with those well after we were drilling holes for access.

I'm curious which full body PTP cocker this one is, all the PTP bodies I've handled have had the top holes for access...

Have you tried moving the hammer forward and back using the cocking rod?

ID:	142650 Yeah, I have never run into that before. The body has a hole (in fact it has three holes, looks like intended for a sight to be mounted), but the hammer doesn’t, I don’t think. I have pushed that thing back and forth so much… I finally caught the faintest hint of reflection through the hole in the body and it seemed smooth as the hammer passed the hole. I think the hammer just doesn’t have a slot for a hex 🤷‍♂️

It physically has to. They had to get it in there somehow. You might have to push it forward into the valve a bit. The valve spring is probably pushing it back jsut far enough that the lug doesn't line up.

I’ve tried that too. I tried sticking a .050 down the hole in the body and applying pressure as I move the hammer from all the way forward, pushing against the valve spring, then pulling the hammer back until it is completely out of the way of the wrench. I figured to .050 would drop into a hole for the lug if anything would.

with the frame off, it is pretty easy to tell when the lug passes by that hole in the body and I swear I can’t feel a thing. Smooth, just like my brain.

I think the hex part got worn out and you would need to use a extractor or drill.

I second this. It probably has the old style hammer in there and the hex section wore.

Could it have a slot for a tiny flathead screwdriver?

Just dremel a slot in the bottom of the lug and screw it in and remove since you have the frame off. Once you have it out you can figure out why you could not remove using access hole from above. The are simple grub screws you can easily replace.

Well that is an old hammer that did not come with that body I am positive. To top it off they use too long of a grub screw then just Dremeled it off to set the length/play. Not a lot of thought to maintenance was given in that one. Either an idiot or dick move your call.

Did those come with some ptp cockers or was it sold separately? Was it an option you could get instead of a matching shroud?

Not standard. I don't know the specifics, but IIRC you could call in to PTP and order whatever combo of match ano'd parts you'd like - for a fee of course. For instance, this one has a matching ano bolt (ridiculous, I know).

And what model is the body? When I think ptp full body, this is what comes to mind, but then every once in a while I see other styles.

ID:	144567 I posted on the ptp collectors Facebook page because I had been looking for a shroud to match my micro for nearly a decade. Within a few hours AC sent me a message about feeling comfortable parting with the shroud and possibly the whole marker. I opted for the whole thing obviously.

i should add that it was not AC who put the hammer in this, it came to him that way also.

Looks like a nice E-collar on your bolt pull pin. Keeps it from scratchin' itself.

At least you got that marker without pneumatics as the ANS pneus that were typical on those left a lot to be desired. I hope this gorgeous beast will have some more worthy parts added.

Hah! it took me a few times reading that first sentence for me to process. +1 internet point for you.

                    Where I’m currently at is-

For the full body, I just snagged a new hammer to install, swapped the pnues from the micro in the photo in the following post, as well as the snappy benchmark frame. Front end is not special but I know they work. Shouldn’t be long before it is back on the field. The jackhammer is too long for the shroud and I don’t want to cut a hole fir the knob so I’m leaving the shroud with the micro on the shelf for now.

the micro has a crack in the back block so I’m not taking it to the field much these days. I put the pnues from a 98 on it along with the matching frame and shroud.

And since I look for any excuse to put pictures anywhere, here is the micro that needed the help.

I had a micro just like that in probably 2002-3. Loved it (outside of the fear of the hammer lug eating up the back block). Very nice.
