Getting back into it after 15 years. need to identify this

My brother in law is giving me this. He has barely ever played. He only used this a few times and was running co2 through it. Once I talked myself out of slapping him I informed him he would be handing it over to me no questions asked.

I know this is an electric autococker. I used to be an autococker tech for the mechanical ones back in highschool. What I don't know is what generation this one is. Seems like its a WDP. would this be tournament legal or would I need to upgrade the board?

05 Black Magic, sweet marker! Not sure about being tourney legal though...

Has a PE board, so E1, E1 Zero or E2. I don’t know the difference from looking at the frame. Guessing Zero Board. Better than the SF board that came on later ones.

You can keep it as it is, convert it to mech or even pump. Great pickup!

you would need to buy a Sci-Fi board to be able to use modern tournament modes, that said they are great boards and add a bunch of functionality. When the maker is able to get more boards, the current silicon shortage is murder as you can imagine

just by seeing the screen its a e2 or zero b. likely a e2. open the grips or throw a battery in it and find out
          (WGP by the way)

Buy a nice slider and pump kit to put on it and ditch the electronics, become one with your true inner MCBer

Can you not just adjust the timing to keep the ROF at/below the max ROF at a tournament? Just raise the solenoid on and off times?

To know which board it is just put a battery in from the side of the eye and press the center button 3 second, the version will flash. Since the screen is blue its either a Zero B or an E2 (both are really good)
2k5 black magic have some value too, lot of people are looking for one in good condition.
The gun look stock with no apparent upgrade.

Move the bolt by hand to confirm if there is a hammer and spring under to see if it had a MQ valve installed or the stock internal (picture of the side without the grip will confirm everything too)

                    A classic, wish I hadn't sold mine to buy a Geo2 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

It likely doesn't need much work, and the board is perfectly fine even by today's standards. Sci Fi board are awesome but can sometimes be hard to get.

Are the MQ Valve the must have these days? I was running my old cocker on a max-flow with super low pressure. the thing would shoot perfect streams of paint and never break a ball. I miss it so much

... I just looked on ebay, the only MQ valve is $500. Is it really that good?

MQ valve is NOT a must, make it smoother but at the price they are you can get a good spool gun for the same price
The stock pneumatic are not too bad but if you want an upgrade you could look at inception pneu

MQ's are certainly not must haves. They are pretty rare these days.

I believe Jeff Orr designed these. I always thought they looked sick. I had a mech-anized one and I deeply regret selling it. They originally came with the garbage Worrblade. Your PE frame is a big upgrade.

Is it worth changing out the Ram, LPR, HPR and valve on these?

the ,WGP/STO pneumatics and regs are actually pretty good. not really worth swapping out, just rebuild that thing and use it - u'll like it

Also I have a REALLY old max-flow tank with the huge adjustment knob on it. I know the bottle is no longer usable. but is the max-flow reg still considered good? will it hold up firing 10bps on an electric cocker? Is it worth getting a new bottle and putting swapping the reg or should I just get a new air tank and put a better HPR on?

I would personally use a newer tank. But some like them
