    Kaos2 won't shoot/recock

    Hey all,

Just picked up a Kaos2 to dink around with and it doesn't want to shoot.

I removed the stock gas-through and put an internally-adjustable WGP reg on it and NOTHING. It seemed like either the pressure was too high for the gun to shoot, the valve spring was too stiff or the main spring was too soft. I recall some Azodin guns having a sort of balance valve system so I'm wondering if you need to get it just so. I turned the reg down as low as it goes and I started to get the slightly *pop* when I fired it, but it wasn't enough air to shoot a ball and certainly not enough to recock it. I don't believe it has the ZERO system because it doesn't seem like I can externally adjust the valve spring tension. Should I try different springs? Should I get an HPR that can go lower? Are we human? Are we dancer?

    Cheers,
    Jonny

The internals on a kaos 2 should be identical to a spyder in function and layout. I'd pull the front cap and check the valve pin/spring/guide and make sure nothing is binding up. If a Zero valve is installed, the cup seal will be a long piece of nylon that doubles as a spring guide. If it looks like a spyder valve, it's the stock Kaos2 valve.

From what I remember, the Kaos2 likes full line pressure. The Zero system likes regulation in the 225-275psi range.

Here's the K2 manual which should help

      Thanks Shaftski!
I've checked the front cap (which oddly enough you pull from a screw in the V/A) and from what I can tell nothing seems to be binding. This is a 'normal' system, looks just like any other STBB to me.

        The obvious question:
Does it work with the stock gas thru?

Striker is fine, tried a new o-ring too. I feel like it’s something wonky in the valve area

Did you pick this one up used or new? If it was used, someone may have been screwing with the spring balance. Sounds like too much valve spring.

I have a bunch of spyder springs. I'll be at extreme on saturday and I was planning on bringing them with me. I built a BL millennium this week and need to dial it in over a chrono. I have a spare set of azodin zero springs too.

Bring this thing with you if you are going saturday, we'll figure it out.

I think you may be right about the valve spring, so far it's the only thing that makes sense to me. I did put a lighter spring in there and it did not seem to help, but I haven't gone back to tweak it since my initial post. I am coming Saturday.

Make sure the valve isn't in upside down, I'm not sure, but I think these may not be drilled all the way through and it won't fire if it's installed wrong. You can pull the valve retention screw and just look in, pulling the valve may not be necessary.

Well I'm a ding dong. We figured out that the bumper had somehow made its way to the front of the valve and was between the valve and cup seal. I had taking the front apart and somehow missed the fat chunk of black rubber sitting there. I could have sworn I saw a bumper in the rear of the lower tube, but clearly I did not.

Gun works fine now, thanks folks!
