    KP3 Velocity issues

    Hello,

I got a lightly used KP3 from marketplace - was in the box and reportedly barely used. Based on the condition and the breach/bolt I'd agree. It's mint.

Anyway I'm trying to chrono it in my backyard and having troubles bringing it down. I reset the regulator based on the manual - turn clockwise until bottoms out, then 2.5 turns counter clockwise out.

Velocity adjuster should be flush and then 2 turns in. This puts the chrono around 400fps....

So right now I have my velocity adjuster flush, and the regulator set to only half a turn from bottomed out. This gets me to 320fps.

Something is weird here so looking for some guidance on what to try next.

What does a quarter turn back in on the reg do ie. having it set a 1/4 turn out from bottomed out ?

Increases the velocity. And that's with my velocity adjustment on the back flush. Bottomed out/1/4 turn I am getting 360/370fps somehow

i think your reg maybe has failed, is not regulating pressure, and you might have tank output pressure going into the gun. Do you have a known , working other reg to test with?

No I dont - but I am definitely think that is the issue the more I plink around in my backyard.

Is it fried or can I rebuild it?

Yep, there are rebuild kits for them.

Yup it was the reg seat that was damaged upon disassembly. $12 in parts ordered and I should be good to go! Thanks!

I will copy the email I received from the Azodin Tech in case anyone comes across this issues in the future.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your KP3. Please check the regulator seat for damage.

                  Disassembling the regulator:

                  1. Remove the air from the marker and take 1 shot to degas the regulator
                  2. Loose the set screw on the side of the regulator, smallest allen in the kit.
                  3. Remove the macroline from one of the fittings
                  4. Unscrew the regulator from the marker
                  5. Unscrew the 2 halves of the regulator
                  6. Look down the lower half of the regulator, into the small hole. You should see a brass seat with a red center. If that red center is damaged the regulator will not be able to control the pressure entering the marker. You will need to get a new regulator seat and regulator spring.
