    Old Stingray Rentals

So, I have been looking for some stingrays to rebuild our loaner fleet numbers. I am not sure what happened, but we used to have dozens of of them. As it stands, most of the crates are now gone. No idea what happened.

Our fleet was 60% comprised of rental Stingray 2s. The rest were privately owned stingrays that I picked up over the years. I have always looked for the person that has that bucket of Stingray stuff to use for maintaining our own fleet.

My question for the Stingray gurus is this: Were there rental fields that used Stingrays? How well did they fair as rentals? And are some of these fields still around that I can talk them about maintenance tips on high mileage stingrays?

    Best,

What were in the crates? If any field rented stingrays i feel it would probably be a Canadian one, since thats where they were built. Possible a field their was sponsored and used their markers. Did the eagles nest fields rent stingrays?

I think my field has nib stingray parts in the back. Don't think they ever rented them though, so I'm not sure how extensive it will be.

I doubt any field rented them. I’ve never seen a field rent a plastic gun. They need to...last. Except when it comes to cars, “rental” isn’t high end or low end it’s a specific sort of product. They don’t want to spend a lot but they want to repair it or replace it much less so.

The only time I’ve been to a field that rented pumps it was the SL68II. Tippman in general owned most of the rental market then and now due to the (earned) reputation for durability* and reliability. This was 1994. Once paintball moved to targeting 12 year olds pump died so for that reason I’d be surprised if fields rented pumps on a large scale and if they did it would probably be a Tippman (US) or Sterling (UK).

        * ironically the SL68II has that problem where the integrated feed neck breaks. “No broken elbows!” was a selling point but in fact the elbow does break and you can’t just pop another one on, for most people it totals the gun.

There were no Canadian field rentals with BE products that I'm aware of. Bottom of the barrel were point zero (winchester), also Montneel Z (at Wasaga), Mokals. But there WERE field rental Stingrays, IIRC National Paintball Supply had field starter packs with Stingrays. I would guess they just didn't exist for long, like many other fields.

Friendly Fire Paintball here in MA used to have all Stingray 1s for rentals (I know this because I ended up with 22 of them a while back) though not sure how many people that work there now would know anything about them as all the guys that were working there at the time left to form Fox 4 when FF closed down.... FF reopened years later and all the guys that left stayed with Fox 4. Sadly Fox 4 has closed down and most of the guys are hard to get ahold of but some of them are on Facebook and might be able to help you

Field I used to work at 20ish years ago had rental stingrays 2s. Probably the reason they hired me, I could keep them running.

It's funny that when we got some better rentals, later version Mirages (could strip down, clean, and reassemble one of those in about 30 seconds, blindfolded) some of our regular renters would request the Stingrays. The mirage trigger was rather stiff, and the well worn in ray sears had self polished to a more pleasant trigger pull.

Anywho, that place hasn't been open for years and I completely lost track of the guys running it.

There was a field 20 miles from me that had a go kart track and a paintball field and they used stingrays. If you know how to work on them there not bad.Parts are getting tougher to find.If you walked out on a field in the mid to late 90s with a stingray they would trash talk ya haha.I still have a orginal Stingray 1 in the red and black box.
