Shot Count with Small HPA Tank

Looking at getting a small HPA tank and manual pump for using on my phantom. What kind of shot count are people getting with their phantoms on HPA? Looking at something like a 9 cubic inch tank (3000PSI). Hoping to get 150+ shots off a tank but I'm seeing closer to 90ish shots with typical markers. I figure a phantom should run a bit higher on the shot count with the simplicity of the nelson valve.

I have a Maxtact 9ci that I use on my Phantom. Shooting smallish paint with a .681 Lapco I can comfortably get 100 shots, closer to 120 if I'm not shooting too fast. With a tighter bore, larger paint, or lower FPS you could theoretically make 150, but I think you'd be pushing it. Next time I play with my Phantom on HPA I can do a full test for you since I very rarely shoot more than 100 rounds in a game.

Thanks for the input Jonny, sounds like a 9ci will be around 100-120 so a 13ci should put me around 150 comfortably.

13ci should get you over 200 shots easily. I played with one a lot and was never concerned about air even with a 50 round hopper setup.

Im able to shoot my joyride pack empty that’s 15 tubes so 150 shots with a 9ci @ 280fps on a hot fill with a 9ci. I have my tank reg shimed up to about 825psi output and run the same stock silver springs for 12g play. I do run a longer barrel 10”-12”and I never shoot fast with it. But the phantom is on the efficient side You could always go with a 10ci to give you a lil more wiggle room. It’s only about a 1/2” longer overall.

I think the 9ci is a perfect match for a Stick fed phantom. I use mine a lot when it starts getting to cold for 12g in my area. It’s plenty of air for limited paint. But you could always go with a 10ci if you wanted a lil more out of like a micro phantom pistol setup. Or even a low cap hopper setup.

I think it all depends on how well your setup is set for efficiency. But you can get 150 shots off a 9ci HPA bottle on a phantom. I’m able to do it with a few different phantom setups. Playing stick feed pump it’s rare I ever even shoot that much. Even turning games.

Thanks for the numbers Chuck; sounds like a 9ci tank will fit my play well. We'll just be doing some quick evening games this summer so I don't expect to do through a bunch of paint. I'm running a VSC phantom so the 9ci should pair well with it, barrel length is 11"

There's no where near me filling tanks (CO2 or HPA) and by the time start going through 12 grams and replace my lost bucket changer it starts making since to get a small HPA tank and pump.

If your playing outlaw co2 is king. Small HPA bottles only really shine when you can easily fill them. And they rock off the Vert ASA of the VSC! That’s how I run mine.
