ID:	134547 Working from home today, heard a “crash” in my utility room....still in shock

    Any way to salvage this?

Snapped the feed neck off one of my phantom bodies.

Or you could.. Drill, clean up, helicoil a nutsert in and then, you can add just about any feed you'd like to use (MAK -magfed adapter, stock-class feed, Spyder clamping direct-feedneck adapter..etc) 😁

They weren’t milled out of a solid block of aluminum so they are attached by welding or adhesive, correct? I would assume it could be reattached. Maybe contact CCI and discuss it with them. I would hope they have the fixturing to attach it perfectly.

True, that would be a better solution. I hope that price is for a 10 to 25 pc pack because that is highway robbery if it’s per insert. Mike used to sell those for multitudes less per piece. I understand costs change, but not that much.

Also depends on a person’s abilities, tools, trust in their own handiwork to perform that mod.

All valid points and I'll go other routes. If I think something is eschew, prices wise. I've recently been searching Mcmasters.com to help complete my "Brass Master Badge-less" Phantom marker. There are somethings, EVT hasn't realized, they need in stock, yet...😉

I really want to keep this direct feed if I can. I spent a good chunk of time and a lot of $$ finding all of the parts for this build. I have a couple matching SC bodies already, but I suppose it’s better than loosing the body entirely (just got the ASP dentent mod back a couple months ago(

I actually considered this....unfortunately my home field has banned FirstStrikes — even in private games (you’ll be seeing my T15 go up soon)

It almost looks pressed on to me. Like some jig from the inside of the body flares the body into the neck.

If thats the case it may be possible to lay that material back out, add a little green loctite for good measure, and repress that flare.

Was that a centerfeed body with the pressed in male feed port that (from factory) had a black plastic kinda shroud around it?

Easiest and most obvious solution besides pressing it back together (if thats what it needs) is that it would be very straight forward to add the stainless steel threaded insert to that body and turn it into a stock class body, despite having a rougher than normal feed port hole it would be identical.

The neck and body were threaded together somehow. Most of the threads are still there, but it looks like they drilled a small hole and soldered a spot on each side to keep it from twisting. Then the black plastic ring was epoxied over the top.

            #10
I doubt it was threaded. My vote is contact cci and see if they can help

Kind of like this but, vert/center instead of right... Right? Although my plastic cover/guard was slipfit and not apoxed.

I redact my previous post about it being threaded

              #12
Ouch! Would epoxy with a couple of welds make it more secure? Not sure what it would do to the ano around it though or if you could cover it with the sleeve then.

No way of cleaning up or retracing the threading? It almost looks usable... 🤔

Dang! The stuff you see when you don't have a thread-file handy.

Honestly, Someone at a local machine shop should have a thread file/thread chaser/die to clean up the feed neck, maybe a tap to clean the threads in the body.

              #14
It would need to be cleaned in the area but it can be re tac welded back on. They are only tacs that hold that in place.

Tap it for a thread insert and put a stock class feed on that puppy!
