CF Barrels, porting and OC pump handles

Deadlywinds is a household name. Are there any others worth considering?

For those of you that own DW's, I'm curious:
1. What is the length of the porting?
2. Has anyone tried to see if they will work with this?

Not an owner of a DW barrel. But, I did try it with an older AC thread Stiffi Switch CF barrel on a ASP roundhead body....no luck without modifying the Reconslide. The sizer backs are the issue. Maybe with some sanding you could make it work.

You might be able to do it with an older DW barrel if you can find one. They have a smaller collar which is why they fit the old CCI pump handles. Porting stops about 1 inch from where the freak bore starts I belive on the new ones. It stopped farter up on the older ones.

So on a 10" barrel, how many inches does the porting run?

Like 1", 4"?

I'm trying to get a sense of what minimum length it would take to get 8-9" before porting.

Then if a "non-ported" barrel could be shorter.

I like short barrels, 8" preferably.

I found my old DW barrel. It's 11 1/2 inches. Looks like porting on this one starts5 1/2 inches from the collar. Length of the porting on mine is 3 1/2 inches. Hope that helps.
