    Metal Endcaps for SC feed?

Does anybody make metal endcaps for this style feedtube? I swear I've seen them before but can't remember where

Gonna probably be an RTR or Carter.

Don’t remember anyone making metal end caps for the phantom feed tubes. I would probably buy one tho if some were made in gloss black. There was a new thread someone was printing cool shaped ones in different colors that were neat. Don’t remember seeing a place to buy them tho.

Am I the online one that hates the OEM phantom feed cap? That thing slides off at the worst times... I modified every one of mine to have a spring pin or three pressed into the plastic and a notch or three in the feed tube so the cap can have some mechanical retention.

Ya I don’t like it either, nor the feed block. Threads would be wonderful or some sort of retention method beyond hope and pray.

Siress, can you post pics of what you did to mod them?

Here's the easiest one. Dremel tool cutoff wheel to add the extra slot in the feedtube, and I think that's a piece of coat hanger wire or something I had laying around to make a pin out of. That was then superglued or epoxied to the feed cap, then cut flush with the outer surface and trimmed to length internally.

The ones RTR made were either to be threaded onto a feed tube or friction fit inside the feed tube of a Nelly. You might be able to get him to make what you want though.

There was a guy on MCB V2 years ago that made nicely milled and anodized ones that were slip fit like the stock CCI ones but sadly their info is gone ....been looking for years to find it,I think it may have been deleted years ago. They were milled similar to the RTR Gargoyle ones but weren't threaded.

Siress Thanks. Good idea, but that’s more physical modding than I was hoping for. Between the clear acrylic feed cap and custom ano feed tube, that’s a bit too permanent of a mod I want to do

Oh yeah... this is why I only buy black parts when I have the choice, haha. Matte if it's an option.

                      Interesting modification with the slot.

Beyond the pursuit of aesthetics of having custom anodized end caps I am perfectly fine with the "Delrin" end caps on CCI stock feeds. I have never had a big enough problem with them coming off to do anything about it but I know what I would do if it did become an issue. A small dot or two of Black RTV inside the slip fit area of the end cap, seat it and let cure. That will take up slack and provide an adhesive bond that will be easy to break as necessary. I also expect even after removing it the RTV will most likely adhere better to the end cap then the tube and stay there as a shim. When it wears away just add another dot or two.

I was able to get a quote from Shapeways, but they aren't cheap. They would charge $51.66 for one in steel with a black finish. Aluminum would be even more stupidly expensive at $104.73. I don't know what their tolerances are like on their metal parts either.

Ouch $140 I feel like a machined piece could be cheaper. Can you ano prints?

I imagine you probably could. I'm pretty sure their aluminum parts are cast.Still, their metal parts are super expensive as they are.

Grendel you bring up a good idea with the RTV, which can be had in clear - even clear silicone caulking would work and you only need a drop or two.

Yeah, if I had an issue with feed caps coming off (not yet) I’d just add a piece of tape or a drop of super glue or something. RTV, Loctite, even a small piece of paper.
