    Extreme Velocity Valves

Just to see if it's a fluke or how they're doing it now, are the new Extreme Velocity made valve bodies using 6-32 inserts instead of the 8-32 they have in the past? I think the one I just got is newer (judging by the gauge on the back), but wasn't entirely sure.

If they're not using the thumb screws anymore that may make sense to cut down on the hardware needed, but figured I'd ask if anyone else ran into this.

I don’t have a new valve body to confirm but your saying there using a different size stainless insert in the valve body? (I hope not) I like the option to run the toolless take down screws. I guess you could just order ones that fit whatever size they use now. But that stinks if they changed the size.

Do the new frames have a relief for an washer under the new Buttonhead mount. Or it’s it just sits on the face. Dose it scratch it all up? The newest thumb wheels have an oring under them that protects the Ano. That’s my favorite part about them.

Judging by NONOBLITUS' comment, this one may have been a fluke or the insert was replaced at some point. It was the valve that was on the loaded Phantom Pearcem recently sold. It had a front thumb screw holding the valve in.

The thumb screws are one of the major reasons I still use the stock pump handles. The ability to take the gun down without tools has always been a big feature IMO. Hopefully EV can get more of them made at some point. Until then I'll continue to sit on my small horde of them.

Thank you. That's reassuring actually. I would like to order a gun new from them at some point and hoped it wasn't a change they were making.

IIRC both inserts have the same external threads (1/4-36?). If you put an extractor in it and twist it out, you can put the 10-32 insert in its place.

Luckily I have some of the inserts so I should be able to remedy it. May need to pick up an extractor though.

I’d be surprised(albeit pleasantly) if that’s actually the case. I’d reckon bigger screw has a bigger insert diameter. Have you measured Handy?

Chuck is correct. They both use the same outer diameter so it could happen.

Man those thread inserts are the best thing in paintball. I am really surprised the guys selling 1500 dollar customized autocockers don't install them on more guns.. or that anyone uses helicoils at all anymore.

They are not available in short lengths. I have machined them down after install which is still worth the hassle on cockers
