I briefly considered it, but I'm of the mindset that if you're breaking paint in the breech, you've got other issues that need to be resolved. To me, having self cleaning eyes is like putting an extra 2 quarts of oil in your car because it has a terrible leak.

similar to what jerry said- I shoot super brittle paint most of the time. The game is much more fun for me when the ball breaks on every shot. Avoiding the need clean the eyes at the end of the day from paint stuck in the eye cavity would be great for some of my older DMs.

Funny enough, I used to have a VW with the piston ring issue, It was much cheaper to put 1/qt per month in the car from blow by than replacing the piston rings.

I would give it a shot if you think it's possible. I agree that if your marker is breaking paint then the eye system self-cleaning is the least of your worries, but in a tournament setting with diving and overly fragile paint (TOO fragile, usually), the eye-pipe self squeegeeing system can help a perfectly functional marker clear itself of paint that broke in a pod or loader before being fed into the marker. In my experience, it kind of works if you only have 1-2 cracked balls. If you have lots of broken paint or your marker itself is breaking paint it doesn't actually work that well, as the paint tends to splash/seep out and around the eye pipe through the big hole in the top where the ball comes in and then the marker needs disassembled to be properly cleaned as opposed to being possibly temporarily cleaned with just a barrel swab. But again, if you have more than 1-2 cracked balls then you should dump your loader and try loading some paint that hopefully isn't broken. One of Dye's newer marketing points now if that the eye-pipe is a replaceable breech, so there is no permanent wear on the inside of body of the marker, as well as making the eye system self-cleaning.

Either way, the eye-pipe is on gen3 or 4 now, and the early versions are abandoned, so your metal inserts could be a saving grace to many.

The resin would have to be very transparent, not cloudy at all, and it would be tough to get the small bit of resin to stay put and not get fired out of the marker or fall out into the marker or outside the marker when disassembled. It would be extremely cool if it worked.

Started making aluminum breech spacers to replace the plastic, failure prone eye pipes made by dye. They take a long time to get them to fit right. And each dm7 is different as far as breech dimensions go. I’ve started sizing them to my tightest dm7 breech, so that they should fit your marker no matter what. Ideally, you’d send your marker to me and I could size each one to your body. Out of the two that I’ve finished, one has a really messed up looking bore which doesn’t effect anything and is purely cosmetic. The o-ring doesn’t even really ride on the inside. Most of the ones I’ll be making in the future will have nice clean bores like the one pictured. The one being tested in the video is the crappy looking one. It's hit or miss what they'll look like on the inside since again, it's %100 cosmetic and does not affect the function or damage either the bolt or o-ring
