    scottieb's 2021 Spyder-a-month: March - The Purple Paintball Eater

March is here and here is the Spyder of the month. The Purple Paintball Eater is fine blend of purple and chrome. It is bringing shiny chrome back baby! There is too little chrome in the world of paintball today. It's a scratch build from remnant parts that will need a few other pieces sourced to make it complete, like a chrome shark gill sight rail because there aren't enough shark gill sight rails out there today either.

This one started as a purple Sonix. The plastic double trigger frame went to the parts bin, but that one was full, so it went to another parts bin. I don't so much like calling them parts bins as I do "staging bins". A single trigger frame from a classic Spyder was installed. The double trigger is a Dye if I remember. If that's not it, then let's say it's from an SE. The .45 block is from an SE. It's clothed in APP grip panels. From the trigger frame we move on to a CP drop, stock purple duckbill, and stainless line to a Centerflag regulator with broken gauge mod. The gauge is staying for the time being as it's a Centerflag branded gauge. When I make it back to the field, I'll pop another on. Now we're to the front block. Nothing special there, just a stock purple block drilled for better flow. That's a Trinity LPC affixed up front under the stainless Freak back with a just-off color-enough-to-irk-me purple AA front. Inside we've a modified stock bolt, shiny striker, and stock purple bolt from a Shutter. You'll notice the NW cocking slot cover. I know you've been thinking this whole time, "What the deuce is that doing there? With the quick release design there's no hole for a cocking slot cover!" Oh calm down, I remedied that with a drill and tap. Rear cocking Spyders and open cocking slots don't mix any better than does Curious George and a minefield. The detent cover was borrowed from a Shutter. One last thing to top it all off, the sight rail. It's from a classic Spyder and along with the trigger frame and LPC were polished to a mirror shine. Okay, almost mirror shine.

Well there you have it, the Purple Paintball Eater.

Another beauty! I’m loving the Centerflag mini-reg. Any idea who made the LPC?

It's a Trinity LPC. I've a gloss black one as well, on my LP Imagine.

I just realized the Spyder of the Month thing was a thing. It's a fun idea, and I've enjoyed the 3 you've posted so far. Cool stuff!!
