Thank you, that's what I figured. Cleaned it up and replaced all the orings but HPR still needs a rebuild. Anything unique/difficult I need to know before I tear it down?

It'll probably work better without a regulator, unless you'd like an LP valve.
Don't lose the metal disk between the mainspring post and velocity adjuster.
The small hole in the valve points toward the back.
The valve body goes in front of the pin.
You may need a battery in the frame for final assembly, but after a few seconds of thought, I'm wondering why I have all these years.

Lol thank you...... Only reason I want to rebuild/keep this reg on it is to keep this as original as possible. If this is the only one I don't want to alter it at all

But on second though maybe I will keep the original parts handy and run it without them. I am a Spyder newb, what type of input pressure should this be running? Just use a high pressure tank and a gas thru grip?

They are made to run on Co2 so any standard 800-850 psi output will be fine. You can use a lower output tank if you want but I don’t know how low you can go un modified and still have reliability.

Well to show my lack of knowledge I see I would need to replace the front block and I don't plan on doing that so I am rebuilding the reg

I probably have a dust black front block if you want to swap them around and see what you can do with it. I’d be happy to toss it in the mail for you just to see what you could come up with(barring I still have the one I’m thinking about)

A low pressure valve will help you, then. II Sports has 32 Degrees Magnaflow (?) valves, if memory serves. If not, let me know, I might have a spare. With an AKA Tornado valve, and an ANS regulator, I had my '09 Electra running on about 550 psi, and I was dang proud of it! I replaced the rocking frame with a blind one, and it shot beautifully.

i say, keep it stock and spend the time hunting down a black to green matte barrel or a matte black barrel. look into the VS/RS barrels. they have a matte green and black finish but its backwards from what youd want.
i dont cant think of any other spyder with that style adjustable reg that came in matte black.
maybe some one can school me on that.

try and keep it stock of look for parts that are period correct.
the reg will likely need to be rebuilt too.

thats where id spend my time and money on.

& for the love of gawd please dont slap a CP reg on there either.

So I rebuilt the reg and it airs up with no leaks but I did something wrong somewhere. Even if I crank the pressure up to 1k it barely sputters and won't fire. Guessing I put something in backwards in the marker

                  Double check 2 things...

1 - The thick rubber donut, the striker buffer, is not between the striker and valve
2 - Double check your valve. If the wider side is flipped to face the striker, it'll do that.

If it's neither, double check and see if the whole thing cycles when you cover the barrel. That will simulate the backpressure provided by a ball when you are actually shooting it.

We have a winner. Spun the valve around and this thing is shooting frozen laser ropes..... Thank you so much
