1 of ? Bad Company Prototype Spyder

This initially started in the Ask the Experts section because I was trying to figure out what I had but now that I have a better idea I will document it here.

I saw this pop up on Ebay recently and picked it up because I like 90 frames and thought it would be a good beginning to a Spyder build. The seller was a random junk type seller (maybe storage locker type guy) and it was listed as an untested Spyder. Once it arrived I began researching a bit and realized I could not find another 90 degree rocker frame on anything anywhere. Then I tried to ID the body and noticed there are several similar ones but nothing that matched. Also saw the feedneck had BC Limited Edition on it but honestly that didn't mean that much to me at the time. I posted it here and the great folks of MCB began to do their work.

Ecapnation was kind enough to reach out to a very reliable source with direct knowledge of this subject who was able to verify this is a concept/prototype marker that was built as a Bad Company Spyder but it never went into production because the team broke up around the same time. It's not known how it was actually released into the wild and I don't know if there are any others in existence.

Unfortunately it did not come with a barrel and I have no idea what (if any) it had originally. If anyone happens to have a Kingman barrel that matches (dust green/black) I would love to pick it up from you. I have plenty of Spyder threaded barrels but I think I want to go with an actual Kingman brand for this.

Also if anyone knows this marker or has seen another please let me know, I would be very interested in any info at all..

Curiosity has me digging into it a bit. Is this a stock/standard Jam/ACS bolt of this time?

Yes, they came stock in the 05 Fenix. I replaced mine with a Shocktech but I still have it if you want pics to compare.

That gun has such strong Angel A4 vibes, it's crazy.

I have never seen a metal ACS bolt, not from Kingman at least. Obviously the original JAM bolts were made in metal. I'd assume that's a prototype bolt.

      Now I can't un-see it. Holy buckets.

Ya, I've only seen the Kingman production ACS bolts in delrin. The design of this bolt screams Kingman made as well. Here is as similar looking bolt:

ill post a link here as well. i love this stuff.
Kingman international owned the rights to MANY different model names. this way they would have a pool of model names to pull from.
      Link below

some of these are out there.

      i have the E88 and E77

as for the angel vide, i agree. the vertical grip from the older sonix pro paired with the newer sonix body is mint.
i built 2 because they remind me of some of the angels.

on a side note. im still looking for a reasonably priced victor II with the teardrops in the lower tube.

Ohh, cool link Tarsun. Thanks for that.

I still like Geoff for the name; but if no one got that reference, its from Top Gear. It's the name off the ugly box electric vehicle the hosts made.

After perusing the link from Tarsun, and as others pointed out the similarity to the Angel A4, I think Apollo would have been fitting. The Angel LCD had a milling pattern that was similar called Apollo (its my favorite stock LCD milling pattern).

Well that's neat- it means someone actually played with it.

It would be cool to know the rest of it's story... from the ideas that spawned it all the way to it being posted on ebay. It may be lost to the sands of time, but it would be sweet if someone who worked on it stumbled into our humble abode.

I asked the guy I got it from if he knew anything about it. He said his friends neighbor gave it to him to sell because he didn't want to deal with it so that was basically a dead end

Would this be an appropriate barrel?

Or are you looking for something two-piece or with a fade?

I am a little torn, I was wanting something made by Kingman but starting to lean towards a dust green/black CP 2 piece so I can get backs in different sizes..... still searching though

Did Bad Company have a barrel sponsor at the time?

The twisted red/black Pilot ACS barrel would match nicely, except it would need reanodized

That was initial thought. Was hoping one was made in green/black but it appears those don't exist

                #14
A dust black freak back and dust green tip would get you in the right ballpark. The dust green tip might be tricky too though

Sorry it took me a bit to update but finally had a chance to sit down and pull the valve out of this thing. I know NOTHING about Spyders so any info on if this is unique or basic valve would be greatly appreciated
