    Fatty Strikers

Does anyone make a lightweight one currently? I have a bob long millennium I am getting together and that TechT lightweight hammer looks mighty cool, especially since I have a New Designz low pressure valve, but it seems to only be available in the slim striker version are there any alternatives?

Also, is there a new lightweight bolt available I can use, I have tons of them but, none of them fit the top-cocking setup my Millennium has (it is the gun version, not the aftermarket body version so it lacks the milling for any other bolt setup).

Is there a list somewhere that shows the changes that were made to Spyders over the years, so I can see specifically what is and isn't compatible?

The only Striker upgrade ever made for the Fatty Striker models was the Alamo City one that was half Delrin and half Stainless.... Sadly those don't come up often at all

You won't have any luck finding an aftermarket fatty striker. Right before the turn of the century fatty strikers went the way of the dodo in Spyders.

At one time sleeves were made (I don't recall by whom) that you could put in the bottom tube and then use a slim striker in a fatty striker body. I've not seen one in YEARS but I've most often seen them in Millys.

A sleeve of delrin would be cheap enough.

Well it can’t be that hard to make one I guess, I will see what I can do, I heard that techt was thinking about making one but, afaik nothing has came of that unless someone has info?

I have the TechT slim striker. Beta tested it. It's nice! I asked him about shortened ones for VS/AMG/RS/etc... he said "soon", but nothing so far. I'm guessing that a fatty will be even further out, if at all. :/

All I can say is, good luck

About 4 years ago I worked for a shop owner who had a bunch of BL millennium bodies and was trying to turn them into functional markers. He tasked me with finding specifically the hammers as I think he already had valves. After about a month I realized the only way we were getting those was if we purchased whole markers just to rob the guts out of. And even then it would be one at a time.

Even then it would increase the final price of the markers by $30-40 each just to get the hammers in them

I think he eventually gave up on the project. Last he told me he was going to have new hammers made but knowing him he would complain about the price any machine shop would give him for a custom run of ~30 hardened steel items with fairly tight tolerances. He would want them for $2 each not realizing how much work would have to go into them.

I already have a bunch of fatty hammers, what I want is something very lightweight to go with the low pressure valve and lighter springs, really try and take the kick out, so my plan is real simple:

I am just going to take a rod of delrin cut it to shape, put a hardened steel hex head bolt in the front to strike the valve, and drill a few holes for long set screws put those though the thing to catch the sear and file them to where they are nice and flat where they interact with the sear. I figure the only hardened steel that makes sense to work with is off the shelf hardware as anything custom seems like it would be quite pricy

I figure I could make a few and as long as they last a few cases it would be fine for my purposes

Not quite true. Some company made a titanium striker. Dark Horizon's maybe? I have one in my Special Edition. Sadly, I don't think it is long for this world, the sear catch area is really deforming since the titanium is significantly softer than the sear.

The knife world has a solution to this problem, as titanium on steel is a long term recipe for sadness. You need a lock face insert that is steel, so it can be replaced if needed.

Dark Horizons for sure. I have a new one I’m still hanging onto in my collection.
