ESP frame mod I've not seen before.

Has anyone seen this before? Factory or custom?

The rear of the frame has a hole and in it is a magnet. The hole does not go all the way through the frame. The hole is threaded (unsure how deep) and a flat blade set screw or plug is fitted. The magnet is fixed with an adhesive of some kind and does not come out.

I've not yet installed a board and tested this one. However, at rest the magnet holds the clapper plunger to the rear.

I'm curious what the purpose/function of this mod could be.

Factory. Most of the time that's so you can set the height of the sear. Think of it like a lug adjustment in a cocker. Yours does seem a little weird in that it has that magnet but I suspect that's just so the clapper will return to it's ready position after firing

I get the lug adjustment thing but notice the pic of the inside of the frame. There is no hole. Nothing to mechanically push the clapper plunger forward.

Yeah in your case I'm betting it's just to reset the clapper. Does the clapper have a spring in it at all? I'm wondering if this is an early frame and they switched to the spring after realizing it was a cheaper option. Then to nothing as they realized you don't need to reset the clapper as the sear spring will do that for you

          ill agree with trbo.
the clapper usually uses the sear spring pressure to return.
looks like a bit of red loctite on the threads too. so was most likely for manufacturing and then no need to ever remove the plug.

Early esp frames... Specifically the plastic ones had this.

Not sure what the intent was but eventually it was phased out
