Time to get this project rolling

I got a little upity this evening and ordered a lightning bolt, cage, and tornado valve from aka.

After reading through the otter pages I have a plan, but I’m not sure what fits what in Spyderland. Do y’all think this spring kit and lpc will fit my classic Spyder?

Yes to both parts. The only thing to really change on the classics is when they went from fatty strikers to slim. The front lpc area changed up a little bit too when they went from a plug to an actual lpc, but that spring kit looks like it should work with both types, whether it’s a full size or a compact body.

Im not certain which model that lpc came from, but the only thing that could give you grief is if it doesn’t have a lip inside to hold the valve spring. I think they all have it though

looks like it would thread into the front block of a compact body.
if you have a non-compact, you might need a different lpc. IIRC, they are narrower, smoother, simpler, and have a big flat head slot cut into the top. i dont believe the lpc's that thread into the front block have the flat head cut out.

photos at action villiage aren’t great. I kinda have my fingers crossed that it works. If not, it is only $5. In the mean time, I found one laying around that actually does work.

in fact, I have a bunch of random spyder gear in a box that someone gave me that might let me get away with building a second low-ish pressure setup based on an esprit body.

thoughts on this valve and stem? This box had a few stock valves and this one and the stem were the odd ducks. It looks like some additional volume can get through there, and the stem is much lighter than stock.

32* magnaport valve. They are one of the cheapest options to get you in the LP game with spyders and do alright, but you get what you pay for unless you have a lot of time to dial it in with springs and such. Not sure on the stem though.

That sounds like the perfect thing for this second random-parts gun.

I found the Magnaport valves finicky when going super low pressure, anything under 400 psi. Cycling was just inconsistent, which affected velocity. A modded stock valve to open the top port up was a bit more reliable at 400 psi. I gathered the cycling was slow enough on the pin that any friction or variable movement on the pin caused the issues.

I’ll try to stick with this thread for updates unless someone has a specific trigger related response on the other thread.

all the AKA bits ($138.50) arrived yesterday and after a little extra work, I think everything is going to fit as intended. Everything seems to work fine mechanically but I don’t have air to test it at the moment so we’ll see about that later.

The valve was a really tight fit which I hope means it won’t be leaking any time soon. The shape of the valve prevented the little retaining screw that is hidden by the frame from screwing in all the way. This of course prevented the frame from sitting flush. Had to give the screw a little grinding to make it work and now everything sits like it is supposed to.

Bolt didn’t have a pin to hook up to the striker. The Spyder Esprit bolt I had laying around had a pin the right size so I yoinked that and used the cocking rod on the AKA bolt to retain it. I think that is how that was intended to work.

Right now I have the black springs in from a spring kit (9.99). Need air to do testing so we’ll see what the best combo is eventually.

Bob Long single trigger frame (9.99 I think) went together pretty easily with spare parts from the Spyder parts tote I got my hands on a few months ago.

The LPR came in the parts bin and I am not a fan. Waiting for a Miteymax or just about anything else to surface. Neither of the other LPRs I ordered ($15 total) have the lip inside to retain the spring so I’m stuck with this Mace of Molag Bal looking thing that scrapes the barrel if it is tilted 3 degrees either way. Of the two I ordered, one I think matches the LPR from a Spyder Sonix and the other is Shocktech.

Vigilante is probably going to need a rebuild if it stays. I like the look of it but I’ll probably go the easy route and swap in something that is definitely currently working.

DYE barrel is still en route from northerly parts. Still interested in an AA or tear drop if y’all have such things laying around.

you could put a neo-power valve in there... just saying.
i feel like no one uses them lol

ID:	105869 Update. I think we are just about done here! Thank you scottieb, cho San Juan, i&i and Jared (aka AKA) for all the awesome parts and kind of semithanks to action village and ansgear for fulfilling some orders of stuff that mostly just made my life more difficult.

Will likely switch to a maxflo or apocalypse before it is all said and done, but I do like the way it feels (even if I don’t like the way it looks) with the current drop and on/off.

I did get a neo power valve and I have some other fun stuff left over sooooo maybe I’m looking for another classic full size body?

Let's see final pressure and a shooting video! I've got a hand in this build and am genuinely curious. 😁

Looks great. I've never seen a Neo Power valve in a working build. I'd be interested to see one in action.

I’ve got a couple running with Neo valves. Not difficult to set up if you follow the provided instructions and no issues to speak of yet.

I haven’t done any recorded testing for efficiency or shot consistency.
