    Supernova N1 ball clipping fix

    Hey folks,

I, like some other N1 owners have had some issues with the barrel/insert clipping a ball in the stack, especially in the colder weather. Initially I figured it was due to the original release of the N1 having the thinner durometer barrel o-rings. Nova (and Myrkul ) hooked me up with plenty of these o-rings, but I was still having a ton of issues with chopping, even when shooting slowly and with all sorts of different hopper types.

So last Sunday, capitalpaintball figured out that because I don't have a foregrip on my N1, I was unwittingly holding the barrel back and making the barrel sleeve protrude slightly into the breech and thus clipping the paint and creating a huge mess in a gun that is NOT field-strippable.

An easy cheap fix? Don't hold the barrel. My fix? Install a foregrip.

Just wanted to share this in case other foregripless N1 owners are having issues. Once the foregrip was installed the gun shot great and didn't have any more clipping problems.

    Happy articulatin'

They had some barrels that had the foam on them I believe? I have the fore grip on my N3 and I swear by it. Didn't think I would like the grip, but I do. So, a +1 in the fore grip category for what it's worth.

I haven't fully disassembled my barrel so I'm not sure about the foam. I didn't mind it without the foregrip comfort wise, but it's objectively better WITH the grip. I think I balked at the $65 price tag initially, but now I'm okay with it.

Jonnydread Check out their webpage, looks recently updated: https://novapb.com. See the foam shroud on the front page right now. That's what I was talking about. It goes over the barrel and is an add-on.

ohhhh gotcha, yeah I thought you meant internally to the barrel not the shroud. I didn't bother with a shroud cause i like seeing the barrel go doodle doodle doo

Make sure you are installing the inserts into the barrel with the label showing outside of the barrel. Make sure that the inserts are difficult to install in the barrel. If not they will slip back during firing and cause chopping.
Skip to 1:00 and you will see how it should fit into the barrel. If it is not that could be source of choppage.

The inserts were always installed correctly, that was the first thing I checked when I was having issues.

I will also say that i have been really really happy with the more expensive foregrip option.

Yeah the one capitalpaintball owns has the fancy foregrip and it's very nice, but I like the goofy space gun vibe of the classic.

capitalpaintball should have both grips AND the shroud. Having had all three and swapping them around a lot, the retro foregrip looked goofy as hell but was SO comfy. That was definitely my preferred grip.

I was thinking about a lock collar that you could twist into the barrel lock slots that wedges behind the barrel pins. Should be able to 3d print them.

My first thought when we realized it was the hand on the barrel that was keeping the breech from fully opening. A thin oring would do the trick. something that would compress so you could lock the barrel and it would keep it tight.
