    Armson question

Is the Armson pump ("paintball rifle") compatible with Phantom parts? Like, grip frame mounting, pump rod location, internals, etc...?

It looks like a phantom, smells like a phantom, so...

IIRC they are compatible but it has been a long time since I worked on a Armson. Pretty sure they were knock offs internally.

You might find your answer here:

I acquired a decent size lot of Armson guns a couple months ago. The lot consisted of Armson Paintball Rifles and Armson Semi paintball guns. I have spent most of the time since cleaning/repairing, finding parts and learning a lot about these guns. You might see them on eBay, but obviously contact me here if you have any

I was told by Forest that they were not compatible which he thought was kind of annoying because they were so close to being compatible. This is from an email he sent me regarding parts compatibility.

Everything metric. And just off a hair from, what could have been, one-to-one Phantom replacement parts. I had a lot of input from before Day One, but never thought to really check interchangeability. You know me: universal, universal, universal… Founding partner of Armson: move screw hole location .5 mm for no reason at all… Makes me crazy – we have sight parts (still) from 40 years ago that we would have used, but they were intentionally made so that you can’t even rework them… Could have sold a ton of grips (I recently had Allen mod the grip to fit Phantoms, etc.), pumps, power tubes/assemblies. We came close to a new “Phantom spec” pump just before I got sick in 2006. I think it would have been epic, but so it goes…

I have been able to fit both a Wevo and one of the dual rod undercocking kits to a couple of the guns. The pump rod fits just fine, but the frame is slightly wider than a phantom so you must file off a very small amount of material from the inside of the pump mounting block so it will mount to the frame. There is a picture of it in my collection thread.

If you need any other spares, just shoot me a message, I still have quite a few on hand and so does Forest.

Its all metric spec which I'm learning working on mine as we speak, but it's super close Also the trigger receiver is wide all the way to the grip block making 45 frames more difficult to find

Interesting bit of info. I lived in South Africa and imported a Phantom for one of my team members back in 1989 or 90. This was due to the sanctions from apartheid. That Phantom went on a loaner trip to the people that designed the Armson pump. I can‘t say specifically if the Armson was already in the works or they were checking tolerances against it but the Armson is pretty much a clone.
