The one that didn't make the cut...

While making Trygve's marker I was just about complete and then my vice decided to show the damn thing who's boss in this shop and fell over ( I did sorta knock it over) and ovulated the lower tube so much that the cartridge valve nor the hammer would fit again...
I did fix this with some kind of pipe expander my buddy has but decided to make a new one as this one might not be perfect enough.

I sold this to a member here but I did add a .684-5 rifle barrel to her with widgets for the smaller stuff and another feed tube...

shes ready to go get her build on...

roughing out a rifle stock to go with the deal, you will have to shape it and inlet it for your trigger group but I will do the barrel inletting for you.

Here is your project... and keep us posted as you build this bad oscar...
And no telling what you paid or the deal is off...

Excited to see what becomes of this. Although i never met this one it sort of feels like family lol. Or the evil twin. Or the good one.

      Eskimo brothers!!!

Think of it as your builds heavy weight cousin. Lol.

Im not even sure what direction to go yet. I got tools to buy, and ideas to jot down.

I have a lead on the valve already, but thats about it.

You would think amazing was your name with how many times I post it on your threads. Haha.

But I feel like the luckiest guy on the internet with this opportunity. I mean, I feel like the luckiest guy on the internet simply because I got my personal build, but man this really makes me feel like I couldn't ever pay it forward. I will try to pay it forward man.

I cant say Ill make anything half as beautiful as you, but Ill do my best Wally!

I was totally going to go to bed til this post dropped. Now I'm staring at the ceiling trying to visualize options an hour past bed time.

Man, I say you just do you wally. I dunno. Every time I think one of your ideas wouldn't work, they blow my head away every time once you have them made.

I had a drop in my head thinking Im going to make a lever assembly work, but a tac 50 stock with a bolt would also be sweet!

So yeah, I dunno man. Have fun with it. Its art.

          Ok buddy
i cut the rough out for a Tac-50 style stock and inletted for the valve tube... I also penciled lined her out in the fashion I used when I started out... you simply rough file mark to mark... helped me keep the form on both sides even...
i did cut the stock a tad long so recutting or filing will need to take place.. i also cut it a little deep around the fore end area so when you are rough filing you don't cut to much meat away...( breather room)..

And I see you sent me the amount I asked for today...As per our deal you have paid in full, so no sending any more monies..

this build will require a kp style bolt, hammer and trigger assembly just for your info...
i will send the package out to you on Monday...
Have fun and be sure to post up any progress as you go... and any help needed I'm just a pm away...
Can't wait to see somebuild pictures.... ohhhh Yea........

            Its beautiful!

Ill get on jg airguns and get the hammer, and trigger assembly now. Bacci may have a cart valve for me. And if not, I have a friend who hoards brass. He said we can steal from his stash to get another WALZ body libodythe bolt will likely have to be made as kp bolts seem to be the rare ones, but I think I can handle making one.

Oh man, pressure on to finish the stock now both excited and nervous. Ill get some rasps.

Boiled linseed oil to finish no matter the wood you use?

I like to use boiled linseed oil to finish a stock but you can use a lot of different products..
I have used tung oil with good results and others that I can't put a name on right now..
I have also used gun stock finish and I like that a lot too...
If you use boiled linseed oil to finish be sure to mix the first couple coats with thinner, I use a 50/50 thinner and boiled linseed oil to start and then just the linseed oil.. use sparingly as it can be a sticky mess if you use to much... A coat every other day and rub in in real good...
Burlap is a good rubbing cloth....

"The stone that the builder refused. She'll be my head cornerstone."

It starts. My buddy is convinced we coulda made it work witb a p series hammer but I trust you wally. Got a striker, trigger, pringle screw, stand off, and hammer lug ordered. Im sure ill need more, but Im so broke I shouldnt have even ordered those. Im just worried one of you other vultures would have snagged the only hammer available before me, so I just got these to start.

Hope fully bacci has a valve for me, of not my hoarder buddy should have one.

Lot to figure out yet. I assume thats a coker threaded detent hole?

Im visualizing a steam punk lever with a few gears meshed to achieve the energy transfer. Im thinking it'll be hard to make that work nice, but I really think it would be cool if I got it.

Otherwise Ill copy a classic lever set up.

I was considering bolt action, but my hoarder friend who is donating parts insists we make a lever. ( we have both talked about owning a lever for years and hes saying this is our chance.)

Well, this beauty arrived today. Took a dowel to the lower tube and got a valve installed.

Then figured Id shape some wood for the first time. I got a crescent/ nicholson branded set of chisel/ files. A shaper rasp, and a 6" plane. ive been swapping tools and working lines for about 2 hours.

This is going to be a lot of work, but Im going to follow Wallys road map.

Hope it looks good so far Wally

It wasnt 5 minutes after Walz posted, and my wife told me she could hear me from the bedroom. Long story short, I had to stop working at about 10:30 last night. Here is where the stock sits. Id like to further shape the grips into step 2 today when she wakes up. I think may cut some of the stocks cheek rest back for mask relief, but I am not sure. It needs to be roughed in better before I do.

Like Wally mentioned leaving the foregrip square gives you a place to clamp so Ill shape that last.

This build wants to be a bolt action. It just feels like it. I dtill want to persue lever and I can feel a lever action working well, but the grip angle may make the lever shape odd.

WALZ, do you have tips for the wood tearing? Im not sure if its me, or judt how wood goes. But it seems one side of the stock is easy to tear up rather than shaves layers off. It seems rasps will prevent this more, but I cant really get them in the grip areas.

Further more, Filing in these areas seems to tear it up too, especially in corners where I have to work cross grain.

I was trying the chisel tips a bit too, but in the soft spots even they seem to " lay the grain down" or if I cut the opposite direction, they cut too deep.

Thank you for everything you do man.

                  Much love Wally!!!

my rasp tears wood as well. I often take 60, or 80 grit sandpaper and place a strip of hockey tape or duct tape on the back - that prevents tearing, then I use it like a shoe-shine boy and pull it back and forth. You can curve it or make angles in it with a fold as well. Helps me with cleaning up hard to sand/reach places.

Awesome tip! My 80 grit was busting apart when contouring, but the 120 grit would flex with the contours. It was frustrating. Ill get hockey tape as I'm going to be trying a few of these.

Emery cloth works really well for smoothing contours if you haven't tried that yet. Both with Mar's shoeshine method and just rubbing it with a single finger into the tighter nooks or curves. It's more durable than strips of regular sandpaper. A fine half-round file is handy for minimal reshaping in the sanding phase too.

It's all about getting the feeling for the wood... and it's grain..
and what your doing is normal.. the bastard file should clean that corner up nicely..
on the butt section try not to leave any flats as you radius it, follow the back of the butt section where it's easy to radius and carry that radius to the back of the grip area..
This is a great adventure, we might have a new airsmith on the rise folks...
Sharing and caring is what makes this place our second home...

I doubt Ill ever rise to your level good sir, but kinda have a dream of getting good at the wood working part so I can pirate a bunch of pgps and make them more widely used.

Id also like to mount 2x pps strokers into stocks eventually.

I started out just like you, if you could only see the first stocks I made...
One looked like a banana. ..the other was kinda flat at the butt area..
I have also made some stocks that were so bad I still laugh..
