    "New" Sterling parts questions

First, I love/hate all of you for sharing where to get new Sterlings. A green stock class version arrived at my house yesterday. Took exactly 8 business days from clicking the buy button to the mailman getting the delivery signature.

Now, I'll certainly run it sc sometimes, but mostly I'll run it as oc.

    My questions:

    1) how do I get a clamping feedneck on this thing? The vertical feed adapter uses the mounting screw as a retainer bar for either the stock feedneck or the stick feed. I didn't see any other feednecks listed on paintballshop.com's site.

    2) how do I get an on/off asa on here while still using the gas-thru tubing? I can run a bottomline via the vert adapter & use any ol' asa, but that's boring.

    Thanks, in advance!

I don't know of a clamping feedneck that would work. Maybe we could get someone to make a batch of Empire feed stubs that would fit into the feedblock or possibly have your feedneck milled down to take an Empire feed. I have other pump guns that I can use so I've always used my Sterling with the stick feed but if I do decide I was going to regularly us it with a hopper I'll find someone to cut down my feed and convert it to an Empire stub.

I don't know of an on/off ASA that would work. I've been screwing a tank directly into the gas through ASA.

I can post a few pics. It basically has a milled horizontal groove to accommodate the shaft of the t-rail's clamping screw.

The black block right under the barrel goes on the dovetail then you hold either the stick feed or feedneck on with the screw. You can see the grove in the feedneck.

Should be fairly easy to make an adapter to plug in the black piece and still be empire spec. If that is what your looking for give me a shout.

I bet BMC Fabrication could make an Empire collar pretty quick that slides into that black clamp. He just built a custom one for my FBM cocker and Loctite it in and it was very resonably priced. I bet this would be even easier. I did have an open class sterling that had a clamping feedneck. I believe it was just a standard Hedloc feedneck that slid in the black piece and clamped it in. I don't think I ever took the feedneck out though. If you have a spare one or a store around, maybe just see if it will clamp in. https://photos.app.goo.gl/TbzD3LjkyV9Rpbci9

As for an On/Off ASA, you might be in trouble there. The only solution I would have for you is something like an inline on/off like this: https://www.amazon.com/GOG-Paintball...0196222&sr=8-2

Also, I am curious. Does the marker shoot right out of the box? Some have had to tinker with their a bit before it would shoot right.

If you wanted a screw in solution for the on/off. I would go with something like this. https://eastcoastpaintball.com/produ...standard-black

I've tried those before & wasn't thrilled (on the old Invert Mini). I like having a bleed feature so I don't have to fight the asa or that thing.

I read through SignofZeta's post, and the first thing I did was slide the valve assembly & bolt out. There was a little bit of what looked like dust mixed with the slightest amount of oil. Cleaned & re-oiled both. Then I backed out the post-travel trigger screw because it even LOOKED too far down, like the trigger had no post-travel at all. Makes me wonder if that's a shipping/safety thing?

Then I gassed up. No leaks. Then dry-fired once with no incident, but it was late and a lot louder than I expected, so degassed immediately after that. But with no on/off on the asa, it was a total bear to unscrew the tank. Didn't damage anything, thank Crom.

Picking mine up from the post office today.

            edit:

Also it would be simple to turn the stock feedneck down to empire spec and throw an Inception clamping feedneck on it. I would do mine myself if I ever planned on running it open class.

Awesome! Did it come with the extra springs and o-rings normally, or did you have to requests spares?

I am sure i can punch a few of the feedneck adapters out if people are interested. Just need some dimensions.

Thanks, Ducky. I don't have any calipers or anything else to measure with.

Australia is the only way to get them in the US

If you try to order direct Sterling will tell you to kick rocks
as soon as you inquire about shipping to the US. Or just outright stop responding to emails.

Think only gloss Blue and Black left in the SC STP. Shipping is a lot but exchange rate makes up for it. Doesn’t take to long to get about a week or so. Tracking is meh but I have always got my orders from them.

No worries. I welcome all relevant questions & answers.

The exchange rate IS crazy. My total with the Sterling Stock Class, shipping, & shipping protection, was $867.48 AUD. Converted, it was $609.20 USD

All you need to do is get a generic clamping feed neck doesn't matter what threads as long as it's got a long enough neck to go down inside and grind a little divot in the side of it where the neck is so that it lines up with the screw ... I did that on my last one and it worked great

I might try that with a spare neck I have laying around. Not sure any of them are clamping but no harm in making some test necks.

So, what's everyone using as a return spring? Holding the pump handle forward is gonna get old.

In other news, the screw on the vasa, the one that holds the gas-thru port welded to the hardline, NEEDS loctite or teflon tape or any sealant, because it screws directly into the port. Found that out tonight.
