    Pro Carbine New Owner

So I ended up snagging my brothers Pro Carbine he used many years ago.

Under all the grime is actually a very nice Pro Carbine. Its been sitting in a basement for quite some time, but all the "yuck" is just superficial. A couple cheapo tooth-brushes and ill be good to go.

Barrel is a J&J ceramic and is in beautiful shape.

I know ill need at least a detent, and maybe an o-ring or two.

Only thing I would like, just for nostalgic, would be an old school expansion chamber. But with HPA, I probably don't need it.

Not sure what im gonna do for an ASA, if I wanna keep the drop or not.

Sweet. Welcome to the club I had an x chamber on mine when I ran it on co2 , and when I switched to Hpa I wanted to keep it as a foregrip. However it would w I would sputter after a few shots of rapid fire. Your results may vary but I’d just go for a gas through. You would need a vert adapter. Hard to come by but they’re around.

I still miss my Chappy procarbines - never should have sold them

On the-bay, I saw a guy with aluminum and delrin "starfire" bolts. Couldn't fine any info on them though when looking on the inter-webs.

What are these for? Softer air burst on the ball? More efficient? Or just a gimmick?

They are pretty inexpensive, so i may pick one up just cause.

Like many paintball upgrades, Starfire bolts promised all sorts of benefits but probably do nothing measurable over the stock bolt. But there's nothing wrong with them either.

Even so, I kinda like the blue anodized aluminum and like you said, they're cheap

Already have it stripped down. Pretty much all it needs are some O-Rings and a Detent.

Cleaned the body in just plain hot tap water and a toothbrush. Came out looking like brand new.

Took a before and after pic to show how nice it cleaned up.

The only reason to get an aftermarket bolt is to ditch the oring. Doesn’t need to be there so not having the notch is better for the detent. Conversely the anno bolts will wear the breach more. Just stuff to keep in mind. I used a blue anno star fire in my old procarb for years until the hole became oblong.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about doing the Delrin one, as it's the same price, and I like the idea of the bolt wearing vs the body (same principle as an autococker bolt). Though, I probably will not shoot it enough to wear out the body / breach, especially if I make a spring-feed like you had done.

If you clean the plastic foregrip and trigge frame with CLP or Ballistol, it will shine like new.

Lapco still has some nickel double triggers for the pro lite / pro carb, just sayin’ ! here is my gun, so you can see how they look. And while you’re there a smaller bore big shot would look great too!
