Getting An Angel G7 Up and Running

Picked up an Angel G7 locally and am looking to get it up and running. It’s been sitting for a few years, but looks pretty good. Managed to charge the battery today and it seems to hold a charge and the screen works, minus a few pixels, but still useable. My goal is to be able to shoot this before I sell it, and to maximize value. Obviously an untested Angel is worth less and a tested one!

I need to use an LP tank on it but apparently I sold mine. I have a few a ninja Pro regs I might be able to adjust down to a useable level.

I have not torn this all apart. There appears to be grease on the parts still but is it worth disassembling the entire thing? Or is it best to leave that for somewhere with Angel experience?

If you are not going to play with it, only shooting with it, then simply stick any HPR in the ASA of the Angel. That way you can easily regulate what pressure you feed the Angel with. Not suitable for actually playing, but a very convenient way of tinkering with markers that need a low pressure tank when you don't have one. Also, even faster than adjusting a tank reg, even if you actually do have an adjustable one.

the g7's had a metric vasa that only let you use the garbage LP mini reg. if you can find one of the CP vasa's you should be all set, the CP ones are standard threaded letting you use any HPR, making the gun HP. but if you can't find one I'm not to sure but I think there's a "mod" for the mini reg to turn it HP, you pretty much just swap the washers so its set up like the old lcd/IR3 mini regs. both are way cheaper then buying a LP tank

I don't know that this upgrade would increase value. If it is a beater "players gun" it may increase it a bit but if it is something in really nice shape or a private label I think most buyers that will pay money want it to look "stock."

Major plus to the quality of life, seeing as the major setback to these guns are the mini reg, could just be me tho

I'm not looking to be upgrading or spending money on it. Just want to evaluate what I have and to just to be able to shoot it. It'd be a shame to have owned an Angel and never actually shot it. I'm going to see if I had a reg with a gauge port and give that a try. My brother-in-law might have an LP tank I can borrow as well, so one way or another I'll get it up and running.

My Pro V2 Ninja reg took all of 10 minutes to look up the guide online, remove the 3 shims to get it to ~400 or 450 psi, then put it all back together. I made it into a dedicated tank for my GAT.

Pretty sure I have the same reg on an empty tank, so that's likely the fastest and easiest way to go.

Couldn’t resist and tore the G7 apart today. Definitely needed it! New orings, cleaned up and added just a little grease to make things smooth. Even took out the valve. Now I need to decide whether to take apart the LPR. Some very neat designs used by Angel and happy I’ve gotten the chance to take one apart.

Reg done. Only thing that gave me an issue was the macroline. It’s stuck in real good.

Got my tank down to LP and looking back at the ASA and I’m confused. How does screwing the cover in push in the pin for the tank valve?! Me thinks I’m missing a piece.

Missing my cross pin. Now going to have to figure out a replacement part.... good thing I’ve got lots of random crap kicking around. Fingers crossed I’ll find something that works.

Cut a the end off an old Allen key to replace the missing part. Was a little too thin and didn’t engage the pin well enough but a little hockey tape fixed that issue. Tightening the on/off now engages the pin properly. Now just recharging the battery and if I’m lucky I have enough air in my now LP tank to shoot!

Battery has charged up but now I get a flashing screen. Any ideas of what I’ve done wrong?

Now working on the battery harness. Batteries were a pain to source. Did manage to find some locally but they are bigger. They fit I. The tube, but have to change the wiring harness a bit as the batteries are tight. I understand why people run a PM7 board and use 9Vs on Angels now.

And the battery is now too thick for the tube. Lame.

After a little reworking, and streamlining I tried the battery pack again. Started okay but ended up shearing the negative wire clean off while trying to insert it into the tube. I’m using a 2/3A 1100mAh replacing the 2/3A 750mAh as that is what I could get locally. Batteries are just too wide to use without modifying the gun’s body, which I am not doing.
